Any photographers in here?

Wow...what ever happened to the creative side of photography? For me it's about enjoying the experience and simply being creative. Sometimes that involves being prepared, and other times I "wing" it just to see what I get.

Have you ever heard of the artform Lomography? Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, "happy accidents," and alternative film processing are often considered part of the "Lomographic Technique."

I say do what you want as long as you enjoy it.

in my mind i pick the highest quality shot that best exemplifies the object/person/scene and ditch the rest. perhaps we just have different ideas about what a "keeper" is.

yeah. It was midnight and I didn't want to keep typing haha.

When I'm covering an event / freelancing, out of the shots I take, usually 1 or 2 images I would consider a keeper for my own portfolio. But, images that I'm supplying to the site/magazine/client, the 'keeper' rate is higher. The challenge is trying to figure out what the editor has in mind for the story, their train of though or vision. Certain shots, I don't know if they want a landscape or portrait image so I take both.

Here let's focus on something else...

You are using RF triggers aren't you?

I am looking at picking up some second-hand studio equipment. So I have been reading a lot about the stuff.

Of course. Just like the bboy pics earlier. I usually shoot off camera flash. My sister and her bf took turns holding the flash for me.

Ok, well I am looking to use optical triggers in the flash heads now with my SB-600 as the master. Since it will all be studio work anyways.

Good RF triggers are just too costly for me right now.

Not really. I use Cybersync triggers from Alien Bee. They're 60 bux each..compared to Pocket Wizards, they're just as good, never misfired and they have a wicked range on them. You should check it out.
