Anyone know of any? I have custom kit that the previous owner had installed, and its a crappy design and look. And it didn't pass smog in CA. So I might as well get a new and legal one if there is any. Any ideas?

is smog text visual or it is texting exhaust? if its the exhaust test i would say that the fmic is not your issue and something else is. any cels on? also i havent the faintest idea of the rules in cali. corksport makes a nice kit btw.

CARB is like everything. its a head-to-toe inspection to make sure everything on the car is factory or has a sticker on it saying it doesnt contribute additional emissions. my understanding - i dont live in CA.

i just saw yesterday by chance that HKS makes CARB cores, too bad theyre about as expensive as a full kit. CS might be CARB but im not sure. ill take a look.

i was told if its a turbo car theres no problem having hard pipe with a bov that rc back to the car. there is no emissions into the air just goes back in to your pipes. i think its only turbo cars???? i could be wrong dont know that much

thats correct... just to clarify turbo cars are the only ones with BOV's...

but from the perspective of the state of california, if it makes your car go faster, it probably decreases your mileage, and thus, increases emissions. so FMICs are generally not CARB exempt unless they have the sticker.

You need carb sticker on intake pipes and bypass valve. When I uprade the intercooler it might have to be the stocker upgrade, nd 2 paint it black. But I do have hard pipes but I failed visual when I had the hks bov I loved that thing had to sell it though. Failed the smog test 3 times but im good now.

Thanks guys, I failed once a couple weeks ago by visual AND emissions! I have the Synapse BOV and its VTA. But I plan on recirc ina week or so. I have powdercoated hardpipes(black) so hopefully i can take it to some cheapo ghetto place and they let me slide.

the recirc valve needs the sticker thats why I failed twice onece for the intake sticker spent about 325 just to get stickers on both units

im hopeing to get a saab 900 intercooler oem its a small front mount but it is factory and black no more shiny stuff for me

I dont think you got to do all that as long as your intake has a sticker. Aem has one and you just need the oem bpv and thats about it. At least thats my setup and I passed.. any any case good luck bro it does suck to live here due to strict smog test.

I go back to stock when I go in for smog! keep all your OEM stuff:) They never hassle me about the FMIC core mounted to the crash bar, just as long as it isnt connected. I think my smog guy likes me:) maybe next time i'll try and sneak in without replacing with stock parts!!

dude i have to me that person. i want the hook up like that..

just ask around for someone that doesnt care for those things. a guy by my work checked to see if Id pass with the high flow cat midpipe using the sniffer. asked me the mods I had. he said he didnt care about that. I was emitting too many emissins, he didnt even wanna do the test, so I had to pass other ways
