Ok so I knowthe infamous Turkey has been threaded to death but I need some advice....I installed a hardpipe kit on m MSP and noticed I ws getting the gobble gobble....So I went out and got a Forge Motorsport Dual Piston BOV and everything was great...but I recently added a CutomMSP Intercooler and Injen Cold Air and the damn turkey is back....I know that this can be bad to my turbo so how can rid myself of this without buying a new BOV:

-Can my forge bov be tuned to allow more venting? Or
-Should I mount it to the cold/charge pipe?

Let me know what you think!!!

damn... you make me nervous now. I have a hardpipe kit coming in and my HKS BOV just came in the mail. I already have an Injen CAI that is giving me a killer Turkey call at the moment, I was really hoping to get rid of that sound by adding hard pipes and an aftermarket BOV. I believe it's also dependent on your set-up.... Where your BOV is located and if your running a BOV and stock BPV combo. Did you keep the stock BPV?
I've researched the crap out of this situation and still come up blank...lol. Here is a pic of a set-up that works well:

Here is the new "kill your turkey" thread by someone who seems like they know what their doing and is real helpful:

Thanks man....I've read those already, I have a Forge Dual Piston BOV and it worked amazing until I upgraded my intercooler and intake....I heard its louder because the intake amplifies the sound but i'm not sure.....I may have to mount my BOV to the cold pipe but I am trying everything else first....I think if I can tune the BOV then it may help

the oem 3/4" OD recirculating hoses might be too small for the amount of air venting at once went you've got boost pressure at full power.
I'll replace the 3/4" pipe for recirculation on the Injen cai with an inch wide one. Also change the tiny leaking oem bpv with an HKS ssqv welded to the SU cold pipe in recirculation with cai.

I do hope this will destroy the turkey, if not, I'll make the bov vta and install the bpv for a dual setup...

i just got my msp last night, and it defintally has that turkey sound. Its all stock but has an injen CAI.

should i really be concerned? How bad is it for the turbo or engine?

Be concerned...Its bad for the turbo. It's the sound of air bouncing back against the turbo fins attempting to make them go the opposite way. The sound is the turbo version of talking through a fan.

I have SUPER TURKEY and I love it. I have 140,000 miles now and the one turbo I took apart looked fine as far as the blades were concerned.
You should hear it at 20PSI with a bigger turbo and the Injen :)
This has been debated a million times over but mine sounds just like a Supra's turkey. I shall forever love you Turkey whilst other seek to slay you I shall embrace you, oh dear foul.

LOL that made my day (bowdown)

yeah this has been discussed alot of times but not one has proven that it actually kills the turbo.. there is no physical proof of it..

it may still not be good but it doesn't mean it has an effect of damaging the turbo in the long run neither.

i like that my turkey almost has a blow off valve sound to it, rev her high and clutch and WHOOOSSSHHH :D

Turkey is not good , but the low stock boost on this car makes it not that serious of a problem. Mazda engineers probably evaluated the risk and found it to be a non-issue and no need for a BOV......well, did I say Mazda engineers evaluated the issue? Nah, there's no way in hell they thought about it, the probably missed it like the other issues on the MSP.....I'm on my second turbo, but I can't say if it was turkey related
