Another Tranny Cross Reference Question, no Not Focus

Hello,

First post here. My father's 2001, 2.0L Protege's FN4A-EL tranny has gone. I've done enough research to know that the internals of the Ford 4F27E might be the same, but the tranny is not a bolt on swap. Now, I've also found that the FN4A-EL is used on the Mazda 3. My question is, will an auto transmission from a 2004 Mazda 3 bolt right up to the Protege in question? The closest I've found to an answer was a posting on Mazda3Club from a guy pondering the same swap but the thread died.

Any direction is greatly appreciated.

Also, trying to figure it out... my 2004mazda3 2.3L dies and found a replacement 2.0L 2004mazda3 autom tranny... still don`t know if can do this swap.
