Another Rotor question

I've been searching for a bit and couldn't really find any answer to this.

VERY noob question - My MSP is a daily driver and I don't race it nearly ever. It's time to replace my pads and I'm pretty sure the rotors are still original.

My brakes flutter at high speeds or down large hills. Will turning my rotors fix this, or should I be getting new rotors all together. It's much cheaper for me to spin the ones I have, but if it's not going to solve my problem, what's the point...

Again, it's a daily driver and I just need something basic, no high end performance parts for me.

Wherever you go to have your rotors turned (resurfaced) can probably tell you if you need new ones. Basically, you only need new rotors if:

1. They are thinner than the minimum thickness - if they've never been turned before, this probably won't apply.

2. The rotor is warped - you need to measure the rotor thickness with a micrometer all around the edge to tell if some areas are thicker than others, and then there's also a gauge that can tell you if it is physically bent at all. Again, usually a place with resurfacing equipment can also check this.

3. Your rotor has gouges deep enough to catch your fingernail in. Unless you have run your brake pads down far enough to grind the metal retaining clips into the rotors, this probably doesn't apply either.

i just had my rotors machined today. My fingernail caught in the grooves i left, and the tech at my work was still able to machine them.
