Anyone get the recall on the fan control module yet? I just got one Friday of last week. I suppose it should be a quick and easy fix. Anyone had it done and know how long it will take for them to do. I need to know if i can wait for it or if i have to get some transportation for the day.

Here is what my recall says.
Mazda motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program to replace the fan control module on 2003-2004 Mazda6 vehicles with the V6 engines produced from October 2, 2002 through September 30, 2003. It is possible the soldering on the fan control module terminal may be insufficient, causing a crack during use. If this failure occurs, the cooling fans may stop operating and may drain the vehicle's battery.
Mazda will replace the control module with a modified one free of charge. The repair may take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
2003-2004 V6 only models Service Program (SSP) 60
VIN range
1YV FP****35 M00477-M57077
1YV FP****45 N04304-N23662
1YV HP****35 M00484-M55980
1YV HP****45 N00002-N23500
Build Date Range October 2, 2002 through September 30, 2003
Check with the dealer you bought it from and make sure it was not already done. Also visit www.mazdausa.com, they may have more info too. You should get a notice in the mail if it applies to you.
Hope this helps ya pedros kanabis.

(shrug) I typed exactly what the recall sheet i got in the mail said.
Did you get a different one. maybe they just don't know which will happen, either way it needs fixin'

I don't have the fans issue...just the turn your car back in for a manual issue...anyone find the recall for that[/QUOTE]
(rofl)
Me neither, no fan issues here but i rarely use AC anyway

it isn't an a/c issue...just the fan has a mind of it's own one day and never turns off...

Once I get my car back I'll get this done as soon as possible. I would call your service station and see the day they are not as busy and drop off the car. It says it takes 30 mins to complete, I'll be waiting a little longer because they will be surprised to see a few modifications.

take your car down to the service dept
it takes about a half hour
all they do is replace the fan control module with a new one
it is known that some of the solder points get hot and then melt to were
it either leaves your cooling fan on or it will not come on
its nothing major but take ti there and have it done

ehhh....mods? Depends on your dealerships personal prefrence and how well you stick sema to them. Some hassle you while others are cool untill you break someting. If they give you flak press on to another dealership.

My interpretation of that was the fan gets stuck (stops operating but keeps trying to) thus draining the battery.

Twin Turbo? Spoke to some other members in the 6 forums and they said it shouldn't be that much of a problem just to get the recall done.
