Another Newbie Question

I am lookin into gettin the forge bpv.. i want somethin a little louder than factory and i know a bov isn't such a good idea w this car.. also is it a bad idea to get custom piping made for a fmic and intake? any suggestions on this? sorry about the questions, i'm new to the whole mazda thing, i had a n/a 240 before this so

A FMIC is a great option if you plan to run higer boost to make big HP.

Yea, thats true. I guess it all depends on your plans for the car. If you want more of a daily driver, and you dont plan on running higher than 10psi, some people had better gains by just upgradding the stock side mount intercooler. And if you just add an intake, the stock bpv will be louder if you dont want to mess with it to much.

what size is the intercooler piping on our cars? i'm gonna be buyin some universal intercooler piping for the stock side mount then upgrade the side mount hopefully soon

would the snow keep the fmic even colder or just slow flow? just wondering.

Go with the FMIC from Corksport. There is a group buy on this right now and you can get the full kit for $699. There is a list in the Lounge area so you can sign up. Normal price is $799 so its a great deal. There is much debate about SMIC vs FMIC. Corksport says go with FMIC, core is perfect size for stock boost.
As for your first question. A Forge BOV... I have one. I like it a lot so far. It is a dual stage valve so you will get no idle issues and the car will not stall. I haven't stalled once. Any dual stage BOV will work, it is the single piston valves (greddy, HKS) that will stall your car out. I put a SRI on this last weekend and my BOV got way louder. Kinda like! Up to you dude. I say rock the FMIC.

I have a question, I'm looking at getting hard pipes for my car, i just bought my car about a month ago. the previous owner had already bought a smic, with i believe a factory reflash? vibrant exhaust, clutch and short shifter. Anyways, my question about the pipes is...some people are saying dont get a bov cus you lose power, and some say you dont. Some say it's better to get the bpv. Now, when you installed your bov (which by the way is much cheaper than the greddy or hks) did you lose power at all? also, is it a good brand, i've never heard of it till i bought this car. If you could be as honest as possible and not just say that it's good because you have it, i would really appreciate it. I'm looking for good answers and solutions to what i should do. i don't wanna waste my money buying something then later on regretting it and spend more money eventually. btw, sorry for the long message.
