Motegi DP-10 17x7, +42 offset question

The rims in question are Motegi DP-10's, 17x7, +42 offset. I'd run 205/40/17 Falken Ziex's. I am on stock suspension and don't want to have any rubbing issues whatsoever. Will I be happy with this setup or do I need a higher offset? (I found the rims used for $350 and figured that to be a nice deal, but I need it to work properly.)

Thanks...

That should work for the Protege sedan.....not too sure about the P5 though.

P.S. Sorry about the Blues this year. Pretty crappy year for St. Lou.

one of these days I guess I'll find a used set of rims that works.

yeah, the Blues are awful. They've been unloading talent to decrease payroll and sell the team. It's funny because they're saying that attendance is up for the NHL nationally, but the BLues have seen a huge decrease. (I'm not really a big fan or anything, just love the mug shot of Ozzy with the Blues jersey on)

that setup will be fine. Even if you lower you'll probably be okay. I know people with P5s Running Tein S-Tech (1.8" drop front + 1.5" drop rear) on +42 offset rims without any rubbing (eve know a couple with +40 offset with no problems). All depends on tire choice, but since you're not lowered, you will have no problems at all.

I am running 45mm with 5mm spacers so really a 40mm offset, I only rub with the whole family in the car, and only on the right rear. I have -2.7 degrees camber in the front, and -2.0 in the rear. I have 215/45/17 Toyos, with the spacers they come right out to the fender lip. I will be putting on coilovers pretty soon, I imagine I will rub, but I will be rolling the fenders to run a 245/40/16 on a 8" wide rim with a 45mm offset for racing this year. That will rub I'm sure. But the car will be a dedicated STX car after that, probably getting another SRT-4 for daily driving, but an ACR version if I can still find one new, or maybe another MSP (black), I haven't decided yet.

What tire size would you recommend?

205/40/17

But I wasn't really meaning that it depends on selction of tire size,....more the actual design of the tire. Some have more boxy sidewalls, while others have a round side-wall design.

If you can pick one that is more round, you'll be able to get away with more. As to which ones are better,...can't say for sure since there are endless possibilities. But I can tell you the following setups that I know people are getting away with from the Toronto board.

Setup #1
1) +38
2) Essenza R's - 205/40/17
3) Tein S-Tech w/ Tokico Blues
4) No rubbing yet, but I can't even squeeze my finger in between the rubber and the rear fenders. I don't usually carry more than 1 person in the back seat.

Setup #2
1) +42
2) Fuzion ZRi, 205/40/17
3) H&R, 1.3" drop overall, stock shocks
4) No rubbing even with a full load

Setup #3
1) +40
2) Khumo 711 (these tires suck!), 205/40/17
3) H&R, 1.3" drop overall, stock shocks
4) No rubbing even with a full load

Hopefully that helps.
