Android Auto Issues

Hey everyone,

Looking for some help regarding intermittent map skipping and audio (Spotify) lag / stuttering when I connect a wireless adapter to my 2024 Mazda CX-5. I’ve had the wireless adapter for just over 3 weeks and I’m at the end of all the possible settings that could be the issue. The visual skipping and lag happen simultaneously and lasts for about a minute or two before switching to AA working perfectly. No skipping or lag. The issue and AA working normally as intended go back and forth every 2 minutes or so.

Things I’ve tried:

· Turned off adaptive battery

· Turned off Ram Plus

· Placed Android Auto, Maps, and Spotify apps as unrestricted in battery settings.

· Switched performance profile from light to standard

· Turned off reduce animations, and in developer options played around with different animation scales for Window and Transition animation scale, and animation duration scale

· Tried all the available Bluetooth AVRCP versions

· Turned off Wi-Fi scan throttling

· In Intelligent Wi-Fi I’ve turned off every option except for show network quality info.

· In Connectivity labs > Wi-Fi developer options > Wi-Fi and network diagnosis showed no issues with adapter Wi-Fi connection with minimal spikes as I was driving around.

· I uninstalled google map updates and turned auto update off

· I uninstalled and re-installed the Android Auto app

Android Auto works perfectly when wire connected. I’ve tried soft resets to the car’s infotainment display (haven’t tried full reset) and I’ve only had the car just a month. I’ve tried different USB ports. I’ve started from scratch connecting to the adapter multiple times. Multiple phone re-starts.

When I think I’ve found the solution and AA works normally, the lag and stuttering re-appears.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? My phone is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and I run the latest firmware for the infotainment display.

Apologies for the long text.

I have the Carsifi wireless AA adapter and Samsung Galaxy S23. I experience those symptoms only when I am near a large power line or transformer station. Other than that, no issues.

I have no solution but I have this problem as well. The skipping and lagging when I play music from Spotify is horrible. I have had my car about a year and it just started doing this about 4 months ago. I had it in for service and they upgraded whatever they needed to and said if I continue to have issues, I need to make an appointment just for that.

I have a 2024 Mazda Cx-5 and my phone is Samsung S23 so they should work fine together.

I would love to know how to connect via a wire. I purchased a data wire and tried to connect to the port in the armrest but on the screen, the USB options are grayed out. I have tried a bunch of things there and can't seem to get it to work.

Getting frustrated with the situation because I do alot of driving.

Does it also happens when you're plugged in? If not, it's likely the 3rd party adapter you're using that's the problem

There are two ports in the armrest, but only one of them supports AA. Are you sure you're plugged in the correct one?

on 2022-- any port supports anything. Doesnt mater. Problem could be in the wireless adapter. Some have firmware updates, etc. Did you check with the manufacturer?

Nope. See the manual section below:

On another car, (Mitsubishi) I discovered that the designated usb port didn’t provide enough amps to properly power the CarPlay adapter.

This was an Ottocast unit.

Read in the small print that for both CarPlay and Android adapters the solution was to get a Y cable that allowed me to connect the adapter to BOTH usb ports in the car.

That solved the problem.

May be worth a try? Or, try using a better quality cable from the adapter to the car’s usb port?

I had the Motorola Ma1 adapter for a few days. There was a noticeable input lag. Sometimes way worse than other times. It wasn't great though having to use a dial wheel with lag.

I ended up returning because every minute, about a second of audio would skip or stutter. I tried modifying settings to no avail.

If I just had input lag I probably would've kept it. Either way it definitely felt like it wasn't OEM intended behavior. If using aftermarket stuff it doesn't always play nice with OEM stuff.
