And the Build Begins!!

Well the car is pretty much wired up and we turned the motor over to prime the oil pump and what not. But i have More Delays... my buddy got a ingrown toenail and had it removed so hes not around to close up.... so i cant work on the car till sat.

damn man! i want to build my motor so bad... I got so much in mind already! but the lack of $$$ and time is ALWAYS a downer for me... Big up to ur build, it looks great

Maybe after my motor blows (hope to god and cross my fingers it wont) ill do something

I'll be posting a full spread of pics sunday morning dont you worry.

so i have 3 gauge A piller. Boost, EGT, Wideband

Anyone think it would look to much like cockpit if i put 2 guages under the radio as well. water temp and fuel pressure...something along those lines.

I'm kinda torn if i want to do it or not.

I will be avoiding the a-pillar myself but under the radio wouldn't be visible to everyone at least!

This may be another option. I just added a second pod and mastered my bondo skills setting in the one on the right. There used to be a vendor making them a long time ago.

i have to go to the pillar now since i have 4 gauges. under the radio is just in my field of view. origionally i had 3 my boost, oil psi,and wideband, now i have this j&s gauge something i didnt expect lol. i guess ill just have to get one more gauge and put it in the pillar o well. i would just get the dg cf pillars but it looks like the placement on the pod is too high up on the pillar

I just got my J&S gauge, that's what I put in the one on the right and boost on the left. I am going to do 3 in the radio pocket and move my PLX wideband somewhere else?

Re: oil issue/engine break in.

This is what I always recommend:

Put in whatever cheap oil you can find when the engine goes in. Start the car, let it idle for 20 mins, change the oil and filter.

Go drive the car for 25 miles. Don't beat on it, but don't drive it like a pansy. Give it some half throttle pulls 80% of the way to redline.

Change your oil again.

At this point, you can run whatever oil you want (synthetic, etc), however, I always recommend you run a quart of shell rotella T due to it's high mineral content. Alternately, you can use a high quality class 4 oil that has a HIGH mineral content such as Neo oil.

Long story short, the dino oils aren't as slick and will help the rings wear in during the first few miles, but it's not the end of the world either way. Keep in mind that many cars (vettes, evos, etc) come with Mobil 1 (a synthetic) from the factory.

it's kinda a personal choice, but i think it would be okay!

you should get one of the single column pods forcefed is selling for that extra gauge.

I'm going to keep the 2 in my cluster and probably move my plx wideband which is the size of a radar detector and mold it into my column. Those are the ones that will get the most attention. Then EGT oil pressure and either coolant and/or fuel pressure under the radio.

thanks for the info. appreciated.

When i finally do start this beast I'll probably have to break out the can of woody be gone.

2.5" dp to a 3" catless custom magnaflow exhuast. It might be loud ;0)

I think I may hold off on the extra gauges for now. I think if i was avid track go'er i might have them but i wont be doing much racing in this car. Just around conners and a highway pull here or there. I just want to surprise people is all.
