Under normal driving, I can slightly smell my clutch burning up. I dont drive my car hard or race it. Maybe relate myself to Driving Mrs Daisy on mass amounts of caffeine, if that makes any sense.....But anyway, any insight as to why I would smell my clutch, and/or what causes it? Thanks.

Sounds like it may be hanging up a little, did you mess with the adjustment at all, maybe back the nut off a couple turns????

You may need to adjust the clutch. It might not be fully disengaging. Conversely, it may not be fully engaging and you may be slipping on the face of the flywheel.

Should I take it to Mazda to adjust it or attempt to do it myself with the Clutch TSB thread? It is catching just fine in second from a stopped point, but it does feel like its catching a little high.

I would have the dealership do it if you're under warranty. It's free and they might have some additional insight.

Well just a thought but are you sure its the clutch. Maybe you have a stuck brake caliper??? Wouldnt they smell the same, or am I an idiot?

They wouldn't smell quite the same. The clutch will smell like burning plastic while the brake pad will smell much more carbon-y. That's not a very good description, so hopefully you catch my drift. (I made a pun!)

Ok i'll call them and schedule an appointment. I only have light mods such as a BOV and CAI. Would you think a dealership would hold that against me in regards to just getting my clutch adjusted?

Yes. They could easily start arguing that you're making the engine produce more power and that the clutch is only rated to handle the stock engine's power level.

Take them off.

Ok thanks for the info haha i dont burn up my clutch so i wouldnt really know hahah.

To the OP yes take off the mods, why give them a chance to void your warranty?
