Am I stupid?

Mazdaspeed Protege 2003.5
Ok, before I do something stupid, I thought I'd turn here for some moral and hopefully positive support.

Anyways...

I was driving by the Pontiac dealer today and decided to look at the GTO. Something about the car has interested me after reading a post on another forum out how dealers are trying to move them out. I finally got to take a Black 6spd for a drive and I was amazed. Something about the car reminds me of a Mazda6s but with 2 doors, more power, and RWD. I can also see some of the 6's looks in the GTO with the exception of the ugly rims. Here's the deal, I can get into a GTO for less per month that I'm paying now. I could sell my Unichip and unopened Hiboot FMIC and have a little money for upgrades. Something about a RWD V8 is calling my name and the interior is miles above a Mustang which would be my only other RWD V8 option. Someone talk to sense into me before I have buyers remorse :) Thanks.

Its pontiac, bad idea. They are kinda ugly, and would take boost away from you. Boost is just too fun.

GM sux. Dont do it.

After a MSP the only way to go is another (future) Mazdaspeed car, EVO, STi, future Supra, maybe a RSX Type R (FWD though).

i think they are very nice cars... the interior is unlike any other GM car, since its from australia.. the handling isnt that great tho. but for that price i say get it and put some decent rims on it and a nice magnaflow exhuast .
one more thing. i think for 05 there gonna have a hoodscoop and some minor changes so make sure ur uptodate with ur info .

and can u say GUZZLER

it is a first year vehicle... let them work out the glitches...
Not really. The entire car minus the engine has been selling in Australia for a long time now. And the LS1 engine has been around for a long time too.

there slow......and heavy......buy a used camaro or firebird if you have the craving for rwd. Or buy my rx-7...cheap.lol

they're slow?(uhm)

like mx3 said, LS1>FS-DE BIGTIME...if yur payments will be lower than on the MSP then why the hell NOT?

i've raced two at the track.....smoked both of them bad, getting beat by a protege means ur slow.

I don't know about the LS1, my dad's vette went through 3 motors and 3 transmissions when he had it supercharged by the dealer. I know the dealer messed up his car bad tuning wise so that is more than likely the reason. I just haven't had much luck with them, just my .02

2 things

1.) check into insurance
2.) if you're serious, ask for an extended test drive, take it on a variety of roads, curvy back roads... if you like the feel of it better in these conditions better than your MSP, go for it!

you may be able to make your MSP go as fast, but with people blowing their engines at 8 psi, it becomes a potentially expensive endeavor

the LS1 in there is not being pushed nearly as hard to make a bunch more power

and your MSP will never be RWD

The only GTO I'd buy is the '69 Judge. In my opinion this thing is just a overworked Grand Prix. Yeah it has power, but everything else about it just doesn't scream GTO for me. Maybe because it's a Holden.

Man, whatever money you'll be saving on payments your just gonna turn around and spend it on gas. No joke man, I ALMOST got a Silverado...and I'm so glad I didn't. I love my mileage, plus my car handles pimp.
