Am I stupid?

i say there is one problem, and here it is:

if you are trading this early in the game with your MSP, then you will most likely get tired of this car before you have any equity built up in it, and with the '05 GTO having more power, these are essentially being "given away" because they are going to be worth very little in about 6 months because no one will touch it for what you will owe on the car with a ten foot pole...if you really want one, save some money now and then buy an '05...

Handling. If you don't value the tight suspension in the MSP then get the GTO. I think its kinda ugly though...

If it were me I'd get the GTO. I think they're awesome though. Sure they're not exactly like the old ones from the 60's but at least they picked a good looking car and didn't end up doing a horrible retro version. Some retro stuff can be nice, but a lot of it just looks, well.. terrible..

And yeah the LS2 will be in the 05, so wait for that. And last time I checked they don't guzzle gas like you'd think they would. A C5 Vette gets 18 city/25 highway mpg. My 88 Mustang GT got about 12mpg on the highway and 8-10 in the city, lol!

And one more thing.. Sure they may not all be pretty, but look at the potential...

man i'd say do it. and pm me, b/c i want that hiboost fmic and greddy you have... so if you decide to do it, there's some mod money for ya, and even if you dont go to the gto, and just wanna get rid of the hiboost..... i'll sure take if off your hands

Let's just say what you wanna do with your msp?? take it down the 1/4 miles right?? Well the GTO is faster, and the price for you to get them is the same and you have money for upgrade. Sounds like a great deal. How about insurance?? How about gas milage? Look at deperciation on your car and the GTO. Figure out the true cost of ownership. I think both car is great except that GTO is more designed for the straightline. Quality of that car isn't bad. It's a Holden basically and they have very good quality. I say follow what your heart say.

OK, if you are going to spend less per month than your MSP I say check the insurance on the GTO man. If its bearable, then I say take the plunge. The handling is good, its just different on a RWD car. Tons of people already make aftermarket parts for the LS1 motor, and I know there are a few companies that do suspension work. Also, I don't think the GTO has DoD on the LS1, but as long as you stay off of it your gas mileage should be OK. I'm sure they make a body kit/exhaust combo to get rid of that STUPID dual exhaust, single exit, but other than that I have no real gripes with the appearance of that car. Clean, simple, and will kick your ass all day long into the 13's bone stock. If I could afford one, I would buy one. Just out of curiosity, how much will you be paying, trade in, etc, etc?

Thanks for all of the input. I'm going to see if they will let me do a 24hour test drive since I "qualify" to purchase one.

sounds like an excellent plan

and if you wanna swing by Cinci, I'll give you my expert opinion ;)

Your Bush/Cheney bumper sticker will look better on your GTO than your Mazdaspeed! (wink)

Well, I traded my car in tonight after taking a couple more test drives and debating everything out. I would just like to thank everyone for making this a great board and I enjoyed my time on here.

you better bring that damn thing to our meets, who cares if it isn't a mazda
