Alpine CDA-9813 won't fit?

Hey all, been a while since I've posted here.

I got a killer deal on an Alpine CDA-9813 head unit from a buddy. However when I go to Crutchfield to order a wiring harness, their page and tech guy say it won't fit my '02 Protege5. They say the deck opening is too short for this deck. Their site says the 9811 will fit though.

Do you guys agree? Will the 9813 just not fit? If so, I'll sell it and get a 9811...

Thanks!

Nate

It fits just fine but youll need a dash kit because the P5 has a double din opening, you can either get an OEM pocket from mazda or get an aftermarket one, I think that scosche makes one.

THATS IT!!!

I am calling these assholes and setting this straight!

I just left a message for Barry there field research guy. Hopefully he will updat the info.

All the Aplines wil lfit even the IVA-D900. The 9815 was the single easiest radi to fit in my car I have tried to put in it. It just slid right in. I even took it back out to make sure nothing was unplug becuase it was too easy :D.

Awesome guys, thanks for the help! Can't wait to get the deck in...also have the Alpine Ai-Net XM reciever for it. Should be fun :)

Evertime I think about the new alpine radios I just have to (hump) something!!

:D

One more question. I've heard because these decks have such a high power internal amp you need to run 10 gauge wire straight from the battery to their + wire. True?

Thanks again all.

Nate

10 gauge is overkill but is still cheap and a good idea. The reason its suggeseted is 10 gauge is the smallest amplifier wiring kit and for only $20 you get power wire, ground wire and a fuse holder with fuse.
You can also tap the constant power wire under the sttering column I make mention in my wire color sticky thread. I typicaly run 2 16 gauge wires. I think the alpine wire supplied is a 14 gauge.

Cool, thanks a ton 1st MP3. I just went ahead and ordered a 10 gauge Streetwires kit from SoundDomain.com Should get it tomorrow since I am in Seattle and so are they :)
