All season tires

Hey guys,

I am looking for some new tires for my P5. I don't have winter tires, and don't plan to get them. I am just looking for something that will perform as well or better than the stock tires in rain, and light snow (roads in CT mostly).

Any suggestions? Also how are the prices from the tire rack? Would I be better off trying to get them locally? They will go on the stock rims. I did a search, but it seems like most of you guys are looking for dry performance tires.

when I was looking, the best all-season tire I could buy was the toyo proxes 4, but I don't know if toyo is available in the USA (because they aren't at www.tiretrack.com)

that's where i purchased mine. i got them over 1 year ago and they're still in good shape.
also, i recieved my tires in 4 days even with a hurricane in their area.(they're in florida)

How much am I looking at to get these guys mounted on my stock rims? Do you think the toyos are better than the Kumho ECSTA ASX that you can get from tire rack? They also seem to get pretty decent reviews.

Are tires generally cheaper via the internet, or can I get a similar deal at a local shop (assuming I can find one that sells these tires)?

Yeah I found that thread, problem is, most of those are summer tires, and nobody really talks about using them in snow (they all have snow tires). Thanks for the link anyway!

well first of all where in ct are you? and secondly enjoy the car, and thirdly ct cleans its roads like balls so snows are suggested! even though i dont have any lmao

Search, please. That question is asked about once a week. There are plenty of threads on all season tires. There is also a rims/tire suspension forum that deals with just tires, wheels , and suspension...

I am in wonderous New Haven. I am well aware of the crappy roads. Thankfully I can walk to work, so when the roads are particularly crappy, I just don't drive anywhere until they get better.

I did search, and read several threads (that's how I found the Kumho ECSTA ASX). I was hoping to find some specific info on tires with good enough snow traction, w/o getting snows. I was having trouble finding them, so I put up the post. Sorry if the posts are getting annoying.

Go with the Kumo's if your going to get snow. I live in Michigan and just got these about 7 months ago from discount tire for about 340 mounted and balanced, I think the tires perform almost as well as the stock ones. They last a hell of lot longer.

I have the Kumho ASX, and to be honest, from looking at the tread, I wouldn't use them in the snow! I do have separate snows, but for an all season that has to handle snow, I'd maybe go with the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S. The tread is considerably more aggressive.

The tread is more aggressive on those, but rubber compound is softer, so they wont last as long.

buying tires off the internet ends up not being cheaper in the long run. Go to a local tire shop and most of the time it'll end up costing you the same... and on top of that you get free rotations, balancing, and flat repairs. Yeah you might save 50 bucks total buying them over the internet.. but then you pay the 40 bucks to ge tthem mounted and balanced... just doesn't seem worth it IMO

Umm, yeah, the softer compound helps in winter conditions. The idea of all season tires is a total joke. Just a marketing ploy. You can't get the best performance in all conditions, you have to make trade-offs in all season tires. Personally, I'd take a shorter life tire knowing that my ass isn't going to die in a snow storm because it lost traction.

Sam's Club will mount & balance tires for $9 each, so long as they're new tires. (Some liability thing).

That's pretty cheap...My tire place charges me $17.50/tire plus tax. I am sure I could pay less someplace else but I would rather pay a little extra and see that it gets done right the first time. Plus they have onsite tire storage so I don't have to lug around tires at the beginning and end of the winter season.

I've never had a problem w/ sams. I'm abt to get my auto-x tires mounted and balanced soon, so we'll see how if it works out again lol

I had been looking for the same, as I'm ready for new tires and live in Cleveland (read: really nasty winters)
Check the Hankook Ventus V4ES H105's... they're moderately priced (about $87), and from what I've reasearched, do well dry, wet , and reasonably well in the snow also.
