Not too sure about the front bumper, but everything else flows nice. Quite jealous of 2017 buyers with the new interior in comparison to the current drab black dash.

really? the new cx5 is basically a mini cx9. anymore and they basically should just call it a cx9 mini. the new cx5 is clean and sharp and just when you thought they couldnt improve on the current cx5 design they did. are you upset that it looks too much like the cx9 so you can't stand apart?

no confirmation of power liftgate/hatch or confirm android auto?

the new crv is bringing the highly rated and efficient turbo from the civic. power liftgate that automatically opens or closes with swing of your feet, and has android auto and apple car play. granted the new cx5 is super clean looking, but with the same engine--and here in the USA we dont get the diesel, why even get the new one when i can get a 2016 cx5 with the same engine. and if there is no power liftgate and official apple carplay/android auto it looks like the only advantage this has over the new crv is looks. but i prefer function.
what really would have made this a clear winner is if they put the 2.5T in here. but will they ever? would they even offer that engine unless you get the highest trim. The cx9 with this motor starts at $31K starting. i dont think they would make the cx5 all with that engine and only as a top end option. esp since the current n/a 2.5 has been proven and efficient despite lack of real hp. just dont see it happening.

I think the 9 looks better. The wheels on the CX-5 are hideous and the interior is not nearly as cohesive or classy.
You must have missed where I said it was more sophisticated and I liked the front clip. Maybe I was expecting more, but I feel underwhelmed.
My feelings towards this car have nothing to do with the 9 in my garage. I had a 5 before the 9. The only reason I have a 9 is the 5 was too small for our needs, or I would still have it.

Further reduced interior noise, active noise cancelation, and a new tweeter setup from Harman are really nice. I was going to purchase a 2016.5 by the end of the year, now I think I'll hold off for a few months
According to MotorTrend the 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine will initially be available in Canada.

Ugh!! Sorry I'm hating the changes on the 2017. So relieved I bought a 2016!
The new front gill and pointy nose are just ugly to me...so are the ugly wheels and hvac vents. The sides don't look as good as before. The sweeping curve on the previous kodo design looked so beautiful and fluid. I also prefer the NAV to be built in the dash for a much cleaner look. The new tablet style looks bad, like its just stuck on the top of the dash as an afterthought. At least they didn't put the cheap looking CX9 wood in it. The only improvement in my opinion will be the sound system, but honestly I don't have any major complaints with the BOSE on my 2016 anyway.

yea seems like everybody is ok with this, but i agree with you when i see no powertrain changes? granted the current 2.5L is a good engine, as a redesign they needed something fresh to bring to the table and not just new clothes (exterior). the 2.5T would have been a nice touch. make 2.5L non turbo the standard for all. drop the old 2.0L option an have it all standard 2.5L non turbo, an then the 2.5L turbo as the upgraded engine. maybe thats what they will do in a mid cycle refresh, but really shouldnt with the new crv bringing a new engine (from the civic) to it (turbo)
Interior does look improved..but i still like my manual handbrake, gt wheels on 16s better. The good thing (for waiters) is mazda seems pretty relentless in making incremental improvements so assuming there are no powertrain changes yet I'd be shocked not to see something of significance within 2 years of this rollout.
Looking closely at an interior pic posted on Twitter, you can see a hatch button on the small panel near the driver's door and what looks like an extra button on the key - pointing to the addition of a power lift gate. The lack of powertrain changes are a disappointment, but the overall incremental improvements, including G-Vector, will make for nicely refined ride and handling that should keep it at the front of the segment. Thankfully, Mazda has stayed a way from CVT's.
I was fully ready to pull the trigger on a new GT AWD in the next couple of weeks. Now, very torn about waiting.

Well, it's over. Mazda killed its handling. Did you all read that?!? "EXTRA sound deadening."
She's done for, now. Mazda was always about HANDLING, and that just went out the window. RIP CX-5.
