Well with the growing amount of car theft and cars being broken into i decided i might want to buy an alarm for my MP3. whats yalls favorite brand?

clifford... you ccan prolly buy the top of the line on ebay for about 150, but installation is about 350... so I dunno if ur down to get it, but its a really good alarm, all my friends have it on their cars. I will soon, i just got the alarm....

Whatever it is... get a pager alarm... if someone touches my car, it tells me... if someone opens my trunk, it tells me.... and something with dual shock sensor... so when a chipmunk decides to sneeze you alarm wont go off..

Other than that... whatever brand has those functions, I would say buy it... mine is an Ultra-Start (it is also a car starter with many features that i like here in Canada).

If you really want to spend the cash, get a digital compustar.... supposed to surpass the 1/4 mile range (my ultra is a 1/4 mile, and was a bit cheaper... so thats why i opted for the ultra)

I have the top of the line Viper that I got at a HUGE discount from my roommate's friend at Tweeter who installed it. I don't know how to guage its success...nobody's broken in yet. And also, I forgot to de-activate the alarm when I was taking my tires off and as soon as I started to loosen the first lugnut before jacking the car up, the alarm went off. I was annoyed but very happy at it's sense.

Every system can be disabled unless you take the time and effort to insure it can not. You need to take some time and money and make sure the install is top notch otherwise even the best alarm is useless.

I read a big article about car-jacking in S. Africa. They've come up with a ton of ways to ward of could-be car-jackers like a long steel blade that strikes the jacker's shins (the same motion as swinging a bat, only from under the driver's side door) and sends them flying, along with breaking their legs. I'd take the flame thrower though.
