Alarm & starter cutoff function...

Hey guys, just wondering....

I only got 1 key fab with my car when i bought it. I'm planning on getting another one eventually, but i was just curious...

If you unlock the doors, and then don't do anything for a bit, you have to hit unlock again before the ignition will work. Since i only have one key fab currently, if this one breaks, runs out of battery, shorts out in water, or whatever... am i SOL, or is the some button or trick or something to let you start it without the key fab?? I know in my dads explorer, if this is the case, you turn the ignition while pressing a button under the dash. Anything like this with the MSP??

Thanks a bunch.

if you unlock the car w/ your key on the drivers side it unarms the alarm. same for the reverse

Im not even sure we have a starter kill...our key ha no chip in it or anything...all you can do is try & let us know if it works...

The alarm does cut off power to the starter if it goes off. You can test it out yourself. Set your alarm, open the trunk - alarm goes off. Hit the unlock button - alarm stops. Try to start your car - nothing happens. You have to arm the alarm then disarm the alarm for it to start again.

I haven't tried using the key. If the alarm goes off, you could probably unlock, lock, then unlock again with the key and get it to disarm appropriately.

alarm & start up

I'm not good at figuring out where to post and just asked a similar question somewhere else, but do you know whether there's a start up issue with the alarm even if the alarm doesn't go off first?
