Mazda CX9 Touring 2007
Sorry if I am in the wrong forum category but I had a question regarding my keyless entry system in my Mazda CX-9 Touring '07. This is my first Mazda and I bought it used. I brought it home yesterday and when I locked the door with the keyless entry system, the horn was almost shrill. I couldnt believe that the arming of the car would be so loud and it sounded almost like it was strained (if that makes sense (hand) )

I called the Mazda dealership and they assured me that the CX-9 does have a very loud arming system.

Can anyone give me their two cents on this :0)

Thanks
Christina

Hi, welcome to the forum. If yours is a 2007, and is a touring, then you have the switch blade style key (vs the credit card size smart card advanced keyless system).
I am unfamiliar with how that system works.
With my 08 Grand Touring, when you lock the doors with the advanced keyless card, there is a quiet "beep" and that is all. If you press lock a second time, the horn then honks once.

So on the switchblade system, i'm not sure what happens. Does the horn just honk once? if so, it is usually a full blowers regular horn honk, just a short honk. I don't think there would be any way to make it not as loud unless there is some way to tell the car not to honk the horn at all when locking.

My guess would be all or nothing. Either a honk, or no noise at all. The quiet beep is part of the advanced keyless system.

Sorry!

Again, welcome!

Yes it is the blade, sorry. I actually think the horn is shorting out. It is such a high pitched sound, I have never heard anything like it before!

Thanks :-)

Time for a YouTube video..... or audio recording! Are both high and low note horns working? Is there an aftermarket siren under the hood?
