alarm behavior

So last night at 1am I hear a car alarm go off. I think "Hope they don't get anything broken" and a little later "Hope they turn it off soon." Then a littler after that I realize I don't know what my car alarm sounds like, or if I even have an "alarm" (beyond the fob triggered panic mode). So I go out to check, and sure as s***, my car is honking away.

So does this car have an alarm, that is, something that responds to tampering? Or was that just a spurious trigger of the panic mode? It's a '15 Touring, which doesn't list anything in the specs beyond Panic Alarm and the engine disabling feature. For what it's worth, my car is a good 100' from where I sleep (apartment) so I don't think my fob could have sent an errant signal.

If it had happened during the day I would have figured spurious panic, but the 1am thing made it seem like someone had messed with it (as it happens my street in Oakland, CA has someone who routinely works the block around 1-2am checking for open doors so they can rifle glove boxes and center consoles). Still, no signs of tampering, and AFAIK there's no mechanism to respond to bumping or door tugging.

Any thoughts?

If there's no alarm, then it sounds like an electrical gremlin. Uh oh.

Yeah. My best hope is that someone else's remote just happened to trigger something, and that it's a one shot deal. No repeat to date, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. If it happens again, I'll take it in, but these kind of intermittent problems are a b**** to track down.
