Air Filter Cleaning

Hey guys. I have had my AEM CAI on for almost a year now. i was just wondering how often (and how) I should clean the filter. I know the aem website shows they have a filter cleaner, anyone used that? I just wanna know opinions on how often and how to clean it. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing.

K&N's site says

"The general rule of thumb is that the filter needs to be cleaned when the dirt build up gets as thick as the wire mesh. The usual interval is 30,000 - 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. We recommend that you check your filter about once a year in normal usage."

I have had K&N filters in all my cars for 17 or so years. I clean them every 6 months or so. Mostly for looks, as I like a nice, clean filter. Get the K&N recharger, and do as the directions say, and it is easy.

+1 vote for the K&N recharger kit. Simple, cheap and available just about everywhere.

Recently bought an AEM dry flow air filter from horsepowerfreaks and it works really well.

i used to clean the filter in my focus everytime i changed the oil just because it was easy to remember.
