Wondering how exactly do you clean an air filter.

Do you clean it with water, a brush?
I know you're supposed to oil it up, what oil should you use?

Haven't found any threads on the subject of how to clean it, so figured it would be nice to know.

Stock air filter? throw it out and buy a new one, probably $15.00 or so. It's just paper

K+N filter? buy a recharge kit, it comes with the oil+ instructions.

I guess I should've been more descriptive. It's not the K&N but it's Injen filter that came with the Injen CAI. Thanks, I guess I'll have to go out and buy it

I guess I was hoping it would be simpler...

Ok, I'm cheap.

Does anyone know the actual process and know if there's a good substitute for the oil they provide? They must sell this oil by itself somewhere.

Also, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER :D use compressed/force air to dry the filter after washing it. The air running through a wet, recently washed filter will blow a hole through the fabric.....let it air dry. It sucks not being able to drive immediately, but if you care enough, do it right :D
