2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hey wats up guys and gals. First off I blew the bottom end of the short block a month ago. I replaced it with the 02 protege NA short block. Everything on my blown block was swapped over. Dropped the motor in 2 weeks ago. Everything checked out good. The problem is evertime I give it half throttle, boost very slowly picks up for 1 second then feels like another hard pressure is keeping it from boosting, like a vac line is plugged up or pend. But if I accelerate very slowly to ride the boost, it picks up but not @ its full potential. Loosing 2/3 of boost power from the way it should be.
My setup is hard pipes relocated MAF sen.( 5 in. Away from throttle body) Using 1G gs-t bpv converted to BOV. Joep FPR and FCD, removed both flaps( forgot name vric? ) in int. Mani. Was Port/pol. too.
Everything else was converted back to stock.
I think my boost vacuum lines are hooked up wrong. I hear no boost leak from hard pipes and couplers.(checked 2wice/day for 2 weeks), Feels like Something is restricting the turbo to spool, can hear turbo spool, but late response and not as loud when barely half-OT. same result when its wide-OT but worse. I'm thinking vacuum line is hooked up wrong. The front end of car was replaced from collision from 1st owner so I don't have the vacuum line diagram from under hood-side diagram to make sure. running VERY LEAN in all gear and rpm. Sound like a very small hisss. Sound near throttle but can't locate vac lines. Help please. Any info would help. Don't want another boom too soon. If ur car runs right, take a pic of vac on int. mani(close up) And tell me where it leads to. That would help out so much.. Thanks guys n girls.
PM me is much faster for my to reply but either if fine.

Are all your vac lines connected on the intake mani? Check your VICS/VTS.... I know the top one if its stuck closed it will make the car feel gutless.

damn it, i have the vacuum diagram bookmarked on my other computer, and i remember it took so long to find on here since mine was removed as well. ill try to find it for you.

Stealth- yes all my vac are hooked up to my IM. But I feel like there's a leak under the throttle near the int. manifold. Everytime u have the hood open and let it idle. I can hear it but not very loud. But to the point where u can hear it. I blew into my wastegate today with the car was off. It was like blowing a balloon. (Its open). It stuck open 3 days ago that's when the turkey started. But I was already having problems with the vac not being hooked up right

Thanks for the diagram yudkib check your Pm . I think imma re-route my T's for my boost line source for a stronger, faster response.

Does anyone know the best boost line source to tap in? I hear a lot about the brake booster line but I really don't want it to interfere with my brake system later on down the road. Or having 3-5 T's on same vac lines. This might help solve my problem also if I was to T at the wrong vac line.

J.A.MP5- yeah a leak is what I thought also to begin with. U can actually hear it when my car sits and idles.
sounds like an air brush right Below the intake throttle body manifold. I don't know if that's normal or not. But from what I remember, i've never heard it before unless its the both flaps I removed?

- On the brake booster line, which one do I tap? Cause I thought I saw 2 vac lines. Unless the bottom line is for hydraulic only. And how much is the Vacc Box?

ive got home made ones for $25 shipped, with fittings. if you go with a major company like vibrant, expect to pay double that for just the block, plus another 20 or so for fittings.

Is there any photos of the vacuum box. I'm definently interested. How many vacuum line's can u hook up?

how many ports do you want? $25 comes with a total of six ports... assuming you tap your break boost, the BB in and BB out would be two, leaving you four accessory ports. additional ports are $3 each. click the vacuum block link in my signature, theres a pic on the first page... the ones with the flat faces.
