Aftermarket SiriusXM Radio? 2024 CX-5 S Select

I recently purchased a 2024 CX-5 S Select. The infotainment system did not come with SiriusXM Radio but did come with Apple CarPlay, which is what I am currently using to access SiriusXM. Frankly, selecting SXM channels this way involves a number of entries and is not always fast and easy while on the road.

Since my Mazda dealer’s parts department can’t even seem to find and OEM SXM receiver module in its catalog, I am considering picking up an aftermarket unit that purports to plug into the back of my infotainment unit.

Has anyone tried anything like this? If so, how did the installation go? Was it necessary to run and install a separate antenna cable? Any useful info will be appreciated.

I installed a dock type, similar to this one:

They both come with the little black box antenna which is pictured in the kit contents, but there is an interface to connect to the factory stereo. They also include the USB cable, which is what I use to connect to the USB/AUX in the CX5 console. They say the kit uses the "factory USB port'. Maybe that's why Mazda parts can't find the module you want in the catalog.

I have a couple of extra docks to use in the house, and one of their 'boombox' docks. THey all use this type of antenna with the little plug and an long cable.

Maybe the contact for support on their web site can clarify.
