aftermarket grounding staps?

yes, a vehicle is basicly a big circuit
a ground is a very important part of circuit and is essential(sp?) for the circuit to opperate at its full capacity

now whether or not you will be able to tell the difference, idk, but your vehicle will

Depends on what you are doing. Does the engine benifit? Doubtful unless you have added a large accessory load on the electrical system.

SURELY those engineers have the ground system up to snuff. The only things I have seen that could use some help on some cars are the actual grounding mounts. Sometimes they still have paint underneath them. Cleaning that up and putting something on it so it won't corrode will go a long way.

as rweatherford said, you'll want to clean up your ground spot.

On the protege's the ground point is actually quite bad, It's only a 8 guage with very thick strands that connects the chasis to the negative terminal on the battery.

remember if you're running stereo equipment, you want your ground to be a lower guage that the positive wire you're running, for the maximum amount of power.

think of it as a hallway with a huge door on one end and a small door on the other, You'll get a bottle neck at the negative/ground wire or the small door.
