Aftermarket Exhaust systems??

I just bought my MSP on Friday and want to start modding it. I usually always start with the exhaust systems. I know the system on our cars is restrictive. With having the RacingBeat muffler on the car is it safe to say all we need to change is the cat pipe? I know most aftermarket cats are also much louder than stock as was my Mustang Cobra.

Does anyone know if there is a MSP specific cat pipe or should I just buy a catco cat and weld it in?

exhaust

Welcome to the world of mazda. I'm new also coming from and still am a Toyota fan. The exhaust would be a good starting point. You could always just change the cat but I'm not sure how much it would help. Since you are around the area you might as well get a better flowing downpipe, bigger cat (catco should be perfect), and finish it off with a bigger muffler. If you upgrade to +2.5 - 3" on the piping then it still flows to the smaller racingbeat muffler you are kinda defeating the purpose. I am going to get a custom 3" exhuast system with a high flow 3" catco cat and some type of aftermarket muffler.

You shouldn't have to worry about sound because it being a turbo car it is going to be quite anyways, if you do want sound then get a bigger tip on the muffler when you do your exhaust but you don't want to be too ricey do you? (all in the eye of the beholder) :)

Good luck.

Well on our cars we were blessed with 2 cats so you would have to change both of them.. if you go with a test pipe set up you will need some type of 02 simulator.... me personaly am having a 2.5 inch turbo back system made.....it consist of a 2.5 inch downpipe, test pipes, a pair of 02 simulators 2.5 inch exhaust piping and an apexi n1 universal turbo canister...the guy thats doing everthing said that 2.5 inch piping will flow fine up to about 350 hp
