After Market Head Unit Kit

The aftermarket dash kit has been available for a while.

I have wanted to do this since I got the vehicle, however as mentioned, losing the Info/Clock buttons, and I believe the integrated bluetooth as well, is enough to keep me from making the jump.

The Pioneer unit is so much better then the stock Nav unit, and cheaper. But I guess you're paying the price for the full integration...

Though there is an adapter so that your steering wheel audio controls will still function.

There may be connections on the circuit board to allow new buttons to be added, like with the new Type B unit. Anyone have a photo of the circuit board?

The Pioneer unit has fully integrated Bluetooth. It also has a backup camera input, which allows you to see the image while driving, iPod interface, 2nd zone audio/video output for rear seat monitors, and a lot of other nice features. It allows you to look up and address on a smartphone, and synch it to the head unit. Pretty nice NAV system, too.
Everything has voice prompt control, too.

I have ordered the exact same kit, including the Pioneer Avic Z110BT and the fitting kit (Metra I guess) and should receive it by Tuesday.
As many of you guys have already mentioned, I don't think there is a way to program the clock, but I am still searching for a way.
I am also getting a set of Rosen AV7500 DVD Headrest installed which should work nicely in conjunction the the new head unit and/or independently.
Once I get it all installed, I'll post pictures for any suggestions.

Installing yourself?

If so, loosen the Display Unit and take a good photo of the circuit board and connector. I'm sure there is a way to set the clock.

The Avic Z110BT is nice for rear seat monitors, with it's zone 2 independent output.

Where are you buying the unit?

Which audio system do you have now?

I will be installing the headrest DVD units myself and get the pioneer unit installed by my local shop.
I ordered the Avic Z110BT from Crutchfield and they included the DD kit, wire harness and the IPod connector. Being the I have the factory Bose speaker system and would like to keep it, I had to order an extra set of connectors and last but not least, I am also getting a steering wheel PAC connector.
Currently, I have the factory non GPS head unit (Not for long :))

As for the Rosen AV7500 Headrest dvd players, the kids will be able to play different movies at the same time and /or controlled by the Pioneer unit.
This should work out nicelly.

:)

That looks great. How did they do the bluetooth microphone? Are you able to plug the factory microphone into the unit or did you have to use the Pio microphone?

That head unit is almost TOO clean, but it looks good. VERY nice unit, too.

I assume you are driving the monitors with the Zone 2 output?

How are the monitors as headrests? Are the buttons orange like the dash?

Have you tried all the features of the Z110? iPod, Nav, Rear View, Bluetooth, etc...

How about the original clock control?

We have decided to keep ours for a while, so I am looking to do a similar upgrade with a Pioneer unit. I was planning on putting the mic in the actual mic location in the overhead console, or centering it in between the map lights.

What is the difference between the Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT and the Z120BT? Crutchfield only sells the newer unit now. Is the Z110BT upgradable via software or are there hardware differences?

Mike,
I had to use the Pioneer Microphone, works just as well as the OEM Mic.
