heya all

Just wanted your feedback on your first year of usage of the beautiful Mazda 5.

Myself I have to say it is the "best" car I have ever owned....really.

I have used this machine in all sorts of occations with no disappointments...

Yes have had a issue with the freezing door....but other then that no out of the normal checks needed with a new car.

I have travelled about 21000 Km on the car and will and have since recommended the car to anyone I know.

Zoom on my little 5 friend you have done fine up to now....

Got my 2006 MZ5 back in July 2005. Long term reliability yet to be tested but so far a really good car. I really enjoy driving it around . I can actually tell this is the first time I have "tried" to swap cars with my wife as she is the one who now drives it (cheers2) . Sliding doors rule with a little one on board!

The usual things with the first gen model have come up, no big deal...

a) Exhaust recall (had some initial ruffles with the dealership because they had no clue at the beginning of the recall drama yet, after that, the dealership manager and Mazda USA called to make sure my rental was OK and to provide updates). In the interim, we had fun (and a lot of miles) with the MPV provided (free)

b) The liftgate strut mentioned earlier in these forums (one of them seems gone). I cannot blame it as a core car issue if you ask. The strut could have ended up on any other new Japanese car that the strut manufacturer sells to (free)

c) Sliding door locks that freeze. Never happened to this MZ5 though. I have usually used the lithium lub during Winter so it may have helped. Will change them in the next service (free).

Other than that, Zoom-Zoom with no problem. Love the 5MT... and the new Mazda dealership that just opened much closer from home (cabpatch)

We've had ours for just over a year now, and it's been great.

The Mazda had done everything we've asked of it (carry 6 ppl, trips to Ikea, weeklong vacations, packed for trips to the airport, etc.), and it runs like a top. The interior and exterior has held up well.

Sometimes I wish for a little more hp and maybe just a little bit more room, but no complaints.

I have the 5 almost a year... everything work perfect... I only want a turbocharger, so it will make the trip to Vegas easier... and 6th gear to make my rpm lower while cruising...

I've had mine for 11 months and have logged 24,000Km's on the car.

Nothing to complain about. The car has been exceptionally reliable and the kids get a hoot with the captains chairs, sliding door and windows that roll down.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a micro-minivan.
