Afc Help Needed

My runs fine and I am using DiscreetSpeeds map, I have a very minor issue that once I actually hook it to a laptop I am sure I can fix. The car runs mad strong and idles well but at partial throttle to keep constant speed it runs a lil funny nothing crazy but I was told I just need to adjust the setting at what point the AFC sees boost and messes with fuel.

Good luck getting this fixed.

The Vac reads normal so id assume the source is fine.

Do you have the vacuum/boost line hooked up properly? There is a way to see the pressure readings from the AFC while the car is running. Are these readings normal?
Only other thing I can think is to re-check your wiring. Did you use crimp on connectors? They don't always get a good connection. Double check those. Best bet is to solder the wires though. Got a pic of your wiring?

I don't know if all the settings you listed are normal off the top of my head, but I believe there was a sheet of paper that came with it that had what the specific settings should be for the MSP version.

I found the message from DSMconvert from a while back:

Ok under the options drop down menu the settings should be selected as follows for each category:

System Settings:
Vacuum/Pressure
Programmable Signal Calibrator

Engine Settings:
4 Cylinders
4 Stroke

Output Settings: *********
Pressure 0 to 30psi
Dont worry about output A
Output B: Over RPM OR Pressure (technically can be just the over pressure selection, but the rpm gives a safety zone incase you develope a severe boost leak)
Over RPM: 6000
Over Pressure: -1
Dont worry about the rest

You must do these in this order, otherwise the values wont be correct, ie -1 at vac/pressure is complete different from -1 at absolute...
So it looks like you settins are just fine. As long as your two system settings are set right(don't think you mentioned what those were).

Good luck.

SPeed, send me a direct email and we'll get this figured out....your car should def not be running those kind of a/f values under idle....it is a possibility its just a bad unit...we try to quality check them but sometimes it happens... john@airflowlogistics.com

hey double check your vac at idle, with the car running rev it up a bunch of times, take it for a spin with yourlaptop and see if the boost is the same as your mechanical gauge. does the digi boost gauge read right? mine isnt and i am having a similar problem to yours.

i have only been able to get a laptop for a spin around the block 2 times now, but at idle the gauge reads ok, after that it isnt going up much even in boost on mine. Ive checked the vac source and its fine. I tried switching around to the different settings on the pressure section and all the gauges related to it seem off. With the fmic map the car was worse. I am thinking we just need to get a new pressure sensor and we are ok, but i dont really wanna rip mine apart just yet, maybe something else is causing it. my values are at 10. we gotta get these things running right soon

well if the car isnt drivable try disconnecting the MAF and o2 sensor wires so you can at least drive the car.

its good enough to get me around town but i must look and sound like a retard to other drivers in traffic sometimes around 3K especially in the morning 1st gear bumper to bumper on the highway and cruising on the way home from work in 5th.

lol, the vac/pres readings on mine where fine. i just need to take mine off the car completely and contact john. but i been so busy lately.

are you running the stock BPV? I am unable to run a BOV with the afc o if you are running a BOV put the stocker back on.

Yea I'm running and HKS Super Sequential, I don't think its the bov, and from looking at the AFC software. I could "tune" the car to vent to atmosphere. Besides going back to the stock BPV isn't an option for me.

thanks for the reply

no i can't recirculate mine, not on this setup. and like i said recirculating my bov is not an option for me. Blowing off beside cars, girls on the sidewalk, school buses, bus stops, cops . . . Corwin feel free to add anything i left out. Its one of the simple pleasures in life, one I refuse to give up anytime soon.

I'd rather go full standalone than recirc. Its that important to me.

uni-chips are very limited. While the PnP concept is great it doesnt work well once you plan on boosting more.
not when you take it somewhere and get it tuned
