AFC & cable USB->Serial

Hi all, I've been running my car on the "stocksupermap" since I first installed the unit almost a year ago and would never go back (first)...

Now with all the new parts I installed since then, I would like to be able to get my car on a dyno this spring to get the supermap customized for my setup. I want to keep the AFR somehow safe, but get some more power out of it!

Somehow I'm unable to get my laptop (which doesn't have any serial ports) connected with the USB->Serial cable I bought! I search everywhere on many forums and over google. I sent an email to John (Airflow Logistics) and even to Split-Second, but nobody really know how to configure the USB->Serial cable properties (Prolific chip) to get it to work correctly. I guess they all use serial connection directly!

I know the unit is wired correctly as the cars runs like a charm... My next test will be to get a friend's old laptop and try to get connected with a serial cable. Needless to say I would prefer to use mine...

So anybody knows how I need to configure it ??? Post your settings...

Thanks

There is a thread about this on this forum somewhere. It has to do with matching transfer rates and all kinds of junk.

Yeah that's what I've been told by other people too... They said the Prolific chip is far from being the best one, the FTDI chip would be a better choice.

I don't know which one is used in the IOGear cable, but as another owner is using it successfully, this is the one I'm going to get too!

To be continued...
