Just put the AEM in. You dont' have to relocate anything. I was also talking to some guys who had used the Ractive, and ebay ones, they switched to AEM because it fits in the car better, which reduces rattling and wear. It also makes it much easier to install...we did so in 20 minutes compared to fiddling around for ever. Time is money.

Car sounds tons better now and feels a tad bit better. :)

Give it a week for the ecu to adjust to the intake. Its nice. The AEM intake is really quite loud, by far the loudest..Although I do like my injen. I don't buy crap off ebay so I'm not one to trust intakes made by a 9 year old in taiwan.

Wondering.................if the performance difference b/w the SRI and CAI is nothing (from what is rumored) why would it matter if you buy spend $68 compared to $200. I want new intake but I don't want alot of noise from engine. I"ve been leaning toward AEM until today. Now I wonder about ebay. Any performance gains, Replica?

From what i've read (which is a lot of threads) the ebay SRI and CAI does the same as the AEM SRI and the INJEN CAI. There is no real difference in performance. You are really paying for the name, but you may get into problems with the ebay ones cause yea you bought them from ebay.

Because the heat off the radiator sucks right into the intake path..It bogs the hell out of it, especially summertime in traffic. Get the INJEN or go ebay. I loved the AEM but I was having trouble with it hesitating in traffic..

The AEM I had to relocate the plastic reservoir as well. It's not a relocation but a mere 90 degree turn. Nothing drastic. Whats' so bad about moving some stuff to make room for it? Matthew doesn't have the plastic reservoir because he has an aluminum catch can for the coolant that's blue and is located right near the radiator. You can see it in the pic of that thread. I haven't had any problems w/ the AEM hesitating in the summer or sucking in water/snow/ice in the winter.

I live in Vancouver, CANADA...lol so I'm not as concerned about the heat issue. In fact, I'm more concerned about the rain/puddle issue Those in hotter areas might wanna lean more towards CAI.

Because it's $200 for a filter on a stick! (hah)

The ebay ones are the same stuff at less than half the cost.

My CAI was $68 shipped...
And the cheap Chinese/Korean copies look just like a Gibson SG, but I ain't playing one. I think it's worth the extra money for the expertise and experience that goes into a quality product.

your not going to suck any water in with either..ever...but it does gulp in hot air with the AEM..you can count on that..not really any gain when your just sucking in lots of hot air..just a lot of sound.

I have the AEM and I like it. The injen is nice for sure, but it also costs more. If money is no object, get the Injen, but don't be afraid to get the AEM as its nice (and I think it looks good).

Since the performance gain with either is not that huge (1-2 hp), I don't think there are any real performance differences between the two (and AEM's research supported this they didn't bother with a CAI for the P5). Therefore, I don't think the Injen is worth the extra expense. Either is better than the stock plastic maze, so go with the one you can best afford.

Here's a couple of pics of my engine:

I would not go with the ebay as the quality is not so good and I wouldn't trust the filter it came with (thus requiring further investment for a better quality cone filter, bringing you close to the price of the AEM).

Hey 1Canuck2, what model and year is your car? I got the AEM too, and the piping goes down into the engine bay where the stock air filter box used to be. Or did you mod the piping to make it go straight?

I love my AEM that I got off eBay for like $100. Woohoo, I love eBay! It sounds great in my opinion, gives the engine a nice deep, sucking sound when you open up the throttle. And when you switch off the engine, it ends with a sweet sucking sound that fades out. Pretty awesome in my opinion!!! (thumb)

He's got the one for AT which doesn't go down into the bay. I have the same one. I think it looks better.

Yup, its the auto model (I have an 2003 Auto P5), and I agree, it looks better. The auto model will fit on either the manual or auto, but the manual model will only work with the manual.

Ahhh, I see... well, to each his own :)

I've seen too many pics of hydrolocked engines that went from functioning machines to paperweights due to a CAI.

Call me paranoid, but I'm going with the AEM once I replace my Ebay POS.

Injen expertise eh?

Then why did my Celica GT-S run like s*** after I installed my Injen CAI on it.. And they refused to take or respond to my calls about it even though I left them messages asking why the car was acting that way.. It ran perfectly fine stock but not with the CAI on it... Just saying that just because it's a brand name company doesn't mean it's great. Think the opposite of APC... For all the crap stuff, they do have some good things.. Injen's the same way, just opposite.

Anyways, I have the eBay CAI. The thing looks the same as any Injen CAI. The only difference you're going to see is that you can get the Injen one in other colors.. or perhaps the polished one is a bit shinier..

Toss the filter that comes with it and go to www.ajusa.com and get K&N cone filter part number RU-4450. It's the exact same size that comes with any other CAI you get and then you have the K&N quality filter. Shipping may take about three weeks though, but it's worth it since they have the absolute best price and free shipping. The rest is just pipes honestly, and there's NO difference at all between the Injen and eBay cold air intakes' pipes..

I don't see why you can't just disconnect the secondary pipe in the eBay/Injen CAI and attach the cone filter directly after the MAF unit.. that's if you're worried about the rain.. You could even get yourself another filter or put the filter that came with the eBay one on there temporarily.. It really shouldn't hurt anything.

The coolant tank takes a whole 30 seconds or so to relocate. It's really that easy.

I voted Injen just because of CAI.. but my verdict is eBay cold air intake (got mine from Trivision Auto) and a K&N cone filter. Costs after shipping is about 90-100 bucks. Save the extra money you save and buy something else with it. All these people can go ahead and say that Injen has all the product knowledge and stuff so they will pay the extra money.. and if that makes you feel better that you dumped a grip of cash on something with a sticker of a company on it, then more power to ya.

Well people who drive in pond should use boats.

One thing about or car, the ECU is on the fool on the passenger side.<O:p

So if you are going to drive threw 2 feet of water well you going to have a issue.

It is not the Intake but the driver, going threw water not meant to be driven threw...

(dunno)

I've seen some literature and opinions that the new K&N may be better than the Injen and AEM.... but i'm no expert in this field...
