2003 Mazda protege lx
Alright, so i drive a 2003 protege lx (second protege, some b**** fit my first one with her truck... :'( ) and as great as the car haddles, would like a little more power though haha

So i was thinking about getting a air intake for my car and was wondering if there was a big difference in quality between the AEM short ram intake and the Injen intake? I was also wondering if, because its a non-turbo the injen could still be converted to a short ram as well? or no

Well i need my car daily and dont have the time and money to invest in turbo currently, and i already have the Unorthodox crank pully so i was trying to decide what else to get

very easy if u are mechanically inclined, takes me about an hour to do a swap if no bolts are seized

You do need a free flowing intake to match headers. Making your car breath better in and out are crucial! gains may be minimal but the car appreciates it.

Header, mid-pipe and exhaust- 3 great mods IMO.

tom, did the midpipe make a noticable difference? i only have header/ muffler combo and was looking at midpipe and hi flo cat. actually i'm afraid of changing the cat cause i had a bad experience with my truck.

sorry for the threadjack above brad, but i would go short ram if i could go back. i have a ingen and not to many guys would convert it to a short intake if it rained or snowed or whatever. in hawaii we had a bad storm 2-3 months ago. i heard of 2 cases hydrolock. might of had more. me too i was too lazy to change, i wen chance um. i was lucky cause i did go thru some big puddles, lucky not deep.

I think the mid-pipe was a great complement to the exhaust system. After doing the header and cat-back, the mid-pipe was the one bottle neck left in the system. There seems to be a nice punch in the upper RPM range after the mid-pipe was installed.
