Aem F/ic

ok the mech. thats working on my car wants me to get it he states its the
best then since slice bread lol...

I'll be joining in on this project soon. Gotta pioneer another one for the MSP faithful. (evil)

The design of this unit intrigues me, this is such a better way to do it. Where the MPI uses coolant temp, TPS, AIT, and various other connections to "trick" the ECU... this one just takes over primary injector control directly, and then uses the 02 correction map to keep the ECU happy. Freakin perfect for us if you ask me.

Add in the little bonuses like wideband datalogging, built in MAF clamp and MAF rescaling, ability to run larger injectors (even has an auto base map builder using your current map and new injector size), won't burn out your coils if you need to have the key on with the motor off, the list goes on and on.

Crazee D - I'd like to check out your maps if you and your tuner are ok with that and would be so kind. :) Not so much to get a map built, but to check out your calibrations and whatnot. Everything still running good for you with this?

Right on!

I have a worked cylinder head swap pending in the coming weeks (incl. twiggy sticks, complete pulley swap, 626 IM, Kasmann Cam Gears)
So I have held off on any ambitious "tuning" strategies.
I have procrastinated the purchase of a serial to bluetooth adapter for my Innovate unit, so I have yet to explore the WB readings.

I am also hoping to start running some low boost once I find a turbo for my T3 hiboost mani. /dreaming

Let's see if this works.

Here's a link to my log files from yesterday:
(3 .txt and 1 .stf)
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/galleryuser.php?userid=14316&gallery=Logs/&page=&type=

I probably posted links to the AEM software downloads earlier in this thread.
The .stf file is from my attempt to import the .txt into AEM Log.

Here's the maps:
(3 .mdb files)
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/galleryuser.php?userid=14316&gallery=Maps/&page=&type=

the C&C1.mdb is the map that was causing misfires before the unit was re-flashed.
The Zero Delta and Base Cal files should both have no signal adjustments in the maps.
I am running the C&C1 map now, but it needs to be revised.
That map was created with the pre-flashed unit that was not reacting well to the adjustments.

The guys that are using the AEM, how are the cars running? I am in the process of hooking my MP3 and want to go this route but i want to make sure it is worth it

ist this an nop or an yes?
I have no idea..not everybody has the time to read all the stuff about our cars..and i could not find any thread about it..sorry! so, is it or not?

What he was trying to say is the AEM FIC is a universal unit.. You can use it on any car..

Its not like I have a habit of being mean to noobs.

But you could have answered your own question in the time it took u to type it.
(burn)
If you are not even interested enuff to read even part of the thread before u crap it up with questions that are repeatedly addressed here then just dont post.
You are not contributing productively, am I right?(braindead

thats not my question...i know that the AEM FIC is an universal unit, but i have also rad about our ECUs and many people say that they start to learn or something like that..so the unit doesnt work, same with the apexi, emanage, etc. so my question is if my 1.6 has the same ecu..or if its more simple to tune..
sorry.. im really trying to understand, but because of my english its hard for me to understand you when you talk about something like WOT MPI open loop etc.

I'm not sure this is a legitimate approach to fixing ECU learning.

sure it is, it will makes the ECU work in open loop, so your fuel trim will be 0%, basically its using a stock fuel map instead... It f*kking works guaranteed.

but how would you control the car to go into open loop if you disconnect the o2 sensor?

if you run a o2 voltage clamp, you can control when you want open to kick in, preferably right after 1 psi.

but if you disconnect it, how do you force the ecu into open loop when you want to?

By whom?

I think Sleepy uses a switch, but I am highly skeptical about trying this.

open loop may make your car run rich. If you have a OBD2 reader that can connect to a computer, you will know. I do have the reader and I did test on multiple cars. OBD2 protocols are pretty much same.\

and please, you naysayer better google how ECU works before argus on this... seriously...

Let me understand, you support this forced open loop on the ECU?

And u monitored with ur scanner fuel and ignition trims when shutting off your 1st O2 sensor?

Please do tell us more.

yes, I have the scannner and did the test, unplug the front o2 will set the fuel trim to 0, LTFT and STFT. And that works on most OBD2 vehicle. Thats why people with e-manage piggyback got problem. ECU relearns based on first o2 sensor. you unplug it, ecu have no idea what fuel mixture is, basically it will use a map... Also peeple runung with FMU, unplug front o2 is a must.

Wow, with all the other sensors feeding the ECU, I would have thought eliminating an O2 sensor would send the ECU into fits!
