First off thank you for taking a moment to read about our problem
2009 Mazda 3 2.0L standard emissions. Hose above radiator fan popped out of the 2 holders, flopped over and got chewed up by contact with the fan.
Daughter driving car while this happened, lost all coolant and car massivley overheated.
I tried to restart car but sounds like timing chain/belt is gone as it just "whirrs"
Engine was freakin HOT. She said white smoke out of exhaust before she was able to pull off interstate and stop car.
Question is...55,000 miles on the engine, Is my best here to consider replacing the entire engine, or get it checked out for a possible rebuild. Im assuming the heads got
warped and needs valve overhaul. Not sure if it would be worth the money to have it all checked out or just replace the engine. Cost wise and down the road reliablity is a
concern.
Thanks in advance for your time. I live in the Fort Worth Area if anyone can recommend an honest mechanic. Not sure if this forum allows that or not, so I apoligize in advance if
im stepping out of bounds.
THANKS
Mike
