Advice on what to do with MX-6

Me and my friend/roommate put in together and bought a mx-6 off of ebay. 300 bucks for the car and about 100 dollars worth of hassle to get it up here and now we have a MX-6 holding the drive way down. The car is a mutt, its a 92 MX-6 with a '88 GT motor swap and the automatic transmission swapped out of with a manual from a '91 lx. Needless to say this was someones project car. My friend drove it around the block and the belts fell off turns out the crankshaft pully needs to be replaced, looks like no fuel magament, no hazard lights (all lights work on car though), a few annoying things wrong with heater etc things that are no big deal. I'm sure there's stuff me and my friend don't even know about yet. The car also sold with a 3" turbo back exhaust.

Now for the dellema. Me and my friend (who just purchased a 95 eclipse GSX and doesn't care to much about what we do with the car now) are pretty useless when it comes to cars but wanted to use this as something we don't need and could learn on. I've got an easy way out of owning this car. Me and the friend could sell it to another room mate who would have much more motivation to fix it. Or we get off of our asses and deal with the cold and get it at least running again (battery is now dead since no belts are hooked up now). Biggest reason we have right now for being so lazy with the car right now is that we have the wonderful Maine winters so we were gonna wait till spring. If I sell the car I could use the money towards my dream of boosting my MP3. Originally we also bought the car as a beater due to our intentions of auto crossing this up coming summer. Which it would still be fun to have this car around for it.

Sorry for the lengthy post just curiouse if I'd get some responses.

Get it running good and take it up in the woods for some fun. :)

well, get her running right, run her for the autoX season, and then, when she'ss still in running, half decent order, sell her to the other roomate, and use the money for a winter build on the MP3 turbo idea:D

Keep it, I think the MX6 GT is an ideal first turbocharged car. Plus, they can be made very quick on the cheap. As long as compression is good, and the car isn't in too bad of shape, you should be fine turning up the boost on it. The 7.8:1 compression ratio allows for big increases in boost on the stock fuel system. I've got a 1990, with a fresh motor, and a few junk yard mods (most expensive mod I've paid for was an ACT clutch), and it's pretty quick, just ask some of the Socal people about the black MX6 at Protegefest, heh heh.

thanks for the advice guys... yeah I'm a little weary on selling it right off cause it seems like I could definitely have some fun with it.

I wouldnt sell it right off. Do you think you will get much more than the 400 you put into it?

Get it to run decent and have some fun with it. Good beater car for when the MP3 is down getting work done of having boost issues.

yeah I think I'd probably be better holding off for a while and try to get it running first. If I were to sell it to my room mate right now I"d probably be getting like 450 for it which is about what it cost to get here from where we bought it.

Buy the Protege, and use the Protege for a beater. The MX6 can be made alot faster, a lot cheaper.

i have a 92 626 and im lookin to swap a mx-6 turbo motor and trans to make mine a sleeper. i bought it for 500 and i have spent a little over a 150 dollars just getting it ready. it fun and im in the process of getting money and the doner mx6 or probe to get my parts from!
