ADVAN is coming to America

I've had my eye out for a Advan over here in the states for some time now and I have been able to get them, but I wasn't feeling the price I had to pay. The only size that might fit is the 225/40 18. Depending on how low your car is and what offset your wheels are. Good find man

THat size is too big unless you ahve coilovers. I think the tire may rub the lower spring perch. For sure on P5.

Rishie

No its not to big. I am running 225/40/18's with a +48 on my P5 and I don't have any real problems. The only thing you might run into is on the rear end. The front is totally clear no rubbing ever. The back you have a little trouble with the plastic part of the bumber in the fender well. It really isn't that bad though you just have to trim honsetly no more than 1/2" from the inside in one part that is only about 2 inches long. I can take pictures if you want.

Hmm id be really intrested to see how you did that aftershock. Whats your setup like? i mean like how are you lowered. especially with 18s i would think u would have to have 35 series tires.

I have 18s right now on eibach springs and i dont rub. im running 215/35 and I wouldnt mind moving up to 225, heh. Also, did u jst cut that plastic out?

No I still have a completly stock suspension. I had my wheels on my old car and I wanted to see if they fit and they did. I didn't cut it out. That would be more for if you are anal. It is actually a real smal area that rub and it is only under very heavy turning. I let it rub it really hasn't even made any marks on the tire. I think the back spacing has a lot to do with why it fits. It is real close fit. the space between the pan for the spring on the strut and the top of the tire you can't fit a pensil in. But it does fit and doesn't rub so who cares.

Do you have any pics of your car? Just curious as to how it looks. I've seen 225/40 18 on a few other vehicles, but not on a Protege. The fact that you aren't lowered probably has a lot to do with it. Anyhow, I trust Rishie and if he says it won't fit, then it probably won't. The reason I'm wondering is because I have a MP3 and am just curious. I know for a fact that the sedan can use a wheel with a lower offset than the P5 can. That was another thing that Rishie informed me.

Yea i would totally go with rishie's word, he knows what hes talkin about. But i was just curious. I know that hes said before that 215 is the highest u can go with 18s, lowered from what i understand.

I'm not say Riche is wrong by no means. From everythign I read he is a very good man. They are on there though. I should be able to get pictures some time this week. I hae to wait for my friend to get back from daytona with the camera. Even with the car lowered as lon as the distance from the center of the hub to the bottom on the spring pan doesn't change they will fit. I guess I'll tell you 1st hand after I lower it. I have to get new wheels first. I'm thinking the Ray's gram lite 57's

It's very possible that the MSP implied by your avatar has more clearance. I know when I test fitted some

Advan Model V's in 18,7.5 +50 with Parada 225/35/18 tires I would rub in the rear well. Being that you may have a sedan that wouldn't be a problem so much.

There's only two possibilities, the sedans have different struts in the rear and therefore can allow for more room, or the MSP exclusively has more vertical spacing, ie distance from top of tire to the lower spring perch.

I'm simply hypothesizing. Until I know for sure I will not state as a fact. Based on my Protege5 I've stated accordingly.

Anyways thanks guys for the support. lol. If I get a MSP in there I will test fit one and then know for sure.

Thanks, Rishie

But if the man says it worked so far, then it works. lol. Do you know the offset and specs on your wheels bro.

Thanks, Rishie

18x7.5 +48 with 225/40's

Like I said before I havn't had any rubbing problems in the front at all it is just the little spot in the back. I'm going to go out this week and try and get some major body roll going jsut to make sure that was the only place.
while I have your attention I'm looking at getting new wheels something a lot stronger that what I have like the Gram light 57pros in gold or the advan RCII in bronze. Do these companies take special orders to get the +48 offset on the 18's? I havn't contacted Walee from Machiii yet to ask him but he seems to be the cheapest I've talked to. We'll see i guess.

Finally some real tires from Advan. Had the 032R bloody long enough. Unfortunately they only come in those stupid Porsche sizes. bah.

I can get either of those wheels. Machiii is around the area near us. We are a wholesaler for both those lines. If you're willing to spend that much then it will open up several options.

You must have a sedan so I can forsee it working. Just know it won't on the P5.

Let me know via PM exactly what oyu want,

Rishie

I'm telling you it will work but I need to make sure I get the 18x7.5 with a +48 off set. I have that size on my P5 right now. I would like to keep it the same because my tires are still good. I figure if I can save money and not have to buy new tires then I can get nicer wheels. I'll PM you and give you my details. I'm going to try and get a hold of a digital camera too, so I can take pictures for you.

Amazing. YOu have a P5. Well there has to be an explanation. Now I am curious and am gonna test fit that. lol. When we do measurements I assume you've been lowered and want to retain proper gearing. So in any situation you will not forsee issues.

But hey more power to ya. lol. At least you want some baller wheels now. lol. Nice Japanese ballers.

Rishie

Considering that he is on a completely stock suspension would explain everything. I don't doubt that you can rock those tires if, you're not lowered.

Yeah I'm definatly not sure on what would happen if I lowered it. I would have to get a good set of measure ment to see if the tires would clear the strut, if so then fitting it in the wheel well wouldn't concern me.
