actual wining noise under hood, pulleys

hey all, i noticed today a pretty noticeable whine coming from something run by my pulleys, or at least on that side of the engine. Its really annoying, and hasn't really been present until this week, when i got new colder (2 step) plugs and gapped them to .035 and got my nitrous going again. the plugs have are pretty black around the tip (from nitrous?) where would i look for signs of detonation? the metal part of the plug or the white part that isnt in the engine? (I ask because i know dots=detonation, and i have tan dots on the white part that doesnt stick in the engine, just on the plug that was closet on the drivers side)
any help? (two weeks ago I also got 4 gauge power wire to alternator and beefed up negative wires from battery)
