ACT Clutch kit went in today! *Review*

^ That. I've tested the pedal feel, not driving it, and it actually feels like a clutch.. not like the stocker

Both of the above have in fact been in my car and tried it, so I promise they are seconding my opinion. Going back now the clutch would have been the first thing Id have done the second it was off the lot.

Actually I love the pedal feel now, but I'm getting tiered of the full face organic disc... I'm thinking sprung six puck ceramic soon ;). Although from what I hear I might be even happier with the awr motor mount, so I might try that first as its much cheaper ;)

Anyway, short answer: get the clutch and I promise you will never regret it for as long as you own the car

Well, it looks like I probably will come spring once it warms up a bit. If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase yours from?

I'll definitely be getting this when my stock clutch goes. My stock one isn't catching until the pedal is almost completely released, I don't know if it is wearing out or if its always been like that and I haven't realized it.

Yeah.. is there even a lightweight flywheel option anywhere in the world for our car's?

Not that i've seen. ACT defeinitely doesn't make one and neither does Exedy that i can see. unfortunately the engine is all ours IIRC, so i don't expect the Fiesta drivetrain parts would work...

Considering it is an MZR engine, I wander if a lightweight flywheel from a 2.0/2.3/2.5 would work? (if such a thing exists)

after i get my AE86 back on the road i'm going to look into getting an ACT i feel almost nothing when i shift and it is pretty laggy, also i have a friend that works at BMW so i'll just use all his tools on a day he has off and get it on the lift when i do it, nothing wrong with paying for someone to change a part on your car, do you really want to drag ur new car transmission all over the floor?

Apparently, the Euro/JDM 1.6 and/or 2.0 engine share tranny's with ours.. the FM35-R (or a different combo of those #'s and letters). So if there is a Euro/JDM option, I'm sure we could use it. Now it depends on price

1.3/1.5/1.6 MZR engines have the F35 tranny while the 1.8/2.0/2.3/2.5 use the G35 tranny and they are not interchangeable.

Thanks for the update.. I guess I should've made me post and "I assume" type of post.

Do you know if they are any lightweight lfywheel options for our tranny's in Europe?

Those flywheels will work with our 1.5l MZR?

Hmmm... How much to get them over here i wonder?

I've seen the JUN flywheels for the 4G63, they make a very nice piece, albeit a bit thin. From a SoCal retailer they were around $500. I would just turn down stockers on a lathe to pull the weight out.

Honestly, that's what I was thinking of doing whenever I decide to upgrade my clutch. Does anyone know the stock weight of our flywheel? The JUN one is 9.9lbs

I'm thinking about getting the ACT 6 puck sprung clutch for my Mazda 2. The only thing stopping me is I'm worried that changing out the clutch may turn out to be a huge PITA.
