Hi

I'm a simple guy and about to go from a 1999 Toyota corolla (With no power anything) to a New Mazda CX-5. After reading these topics about sloppy blutooth and small infotainment system, I decided its a better idea to maybe buy the Sport model and magnetically link an iPad mini into the area where the radio is so that i can use Waze for live mapping and Pandora for music. Someone on here mentioned that you can run a usb cable through the dash and out through the vent or radio for power. If there anyway to connect the speakers to the iPad via blutooth? What would be the best way of connecting the iPad to the speaker system on the CX-5 Sport ir is this just a silly idea and I should just get the Touring model with the infotainment? I just can't get past the outdated look of the Dash screen. The Mazda3 system looks so much nicer. Also I'm used to looking back as I back up. Do i really need the backup camera or is it just a luxury thing? Thanks in advance! (nana)(breakn)

I can't answer about the iPad, but my S4 streams music to the CX-5 just fine (GT w/Bose). It seems "your mileage may vary" on Bluetooth working with a particular device is the story, however.

Because of the limited visibility out the back, a backup camera is a necessity, IMHO. In fact, I wanted (and got) the rear parking sensors as well. I backed into a bollard in my Tribute that I couldn't even see out the back once. Scared the crap out of me, I was glad it wasn't a little kid on a tricycle or something...

An iPad Mini in a car?? Doesn't sound like you much of a simple person anymore! But seriously, if you have bluetooth on your Sport, then you should be able to link the ipad to your audio system via ipad's bluetooth. As far as power, any Apple 12v car power adapter should work, unless you want to get complicated! I put my ipad Mini Retina in my Honda using a bluetooth receiver and mounted it magnetically with full iPad control and sound through the speakers. BTW, I have an iMagnet suction cup magnet mount for sale if your interested. It holds the mini strongly.

I play my podcasts from my ipad no problem. I download the news podcasts at home and then play them for my commute. You just have to do the one time setup for a new device.
