About the Sport Exhaust option on the Protege 5

I would like to find out more about the optional Sport Exhaust on the P5. What does it make the P5 sound like ? Is it a deep tone sound or does it sound like a street racer type exhaust ?
This is just oneof the options that I am considering as my local dealer does not have a P5 in with this option.

Thanks for your help ,

Dan, this is what is called an "axel back" system....it replaces only the muffler section of the exhaust system.....its a fairly deep toned exhaust system.....you would probably like it.

omg....its a option now ??!!! and now they even have the sub as a option !!! oh man..........sucks.

Anything from the dealer could be an option... :)

Anyway I have this exhaust, it does have a nice growl. It's quiet when cold but when it warms up it sounds really nice. If you travel at highway speeds be prepared for some resonance at 3500rpm or so.

Hey..
the Sport exhuast or they should call muffler, is by MagnaFlow Exhuast. My cousin who purchased a P5 a few months ago went with this option, and before she got it, i thought it would be the Racing Beat Cat back exhuast. But that's not the case here..

The sound is actually deeper and slightly louder than my MSP. Her car is automatic too and it's louder and deeper than my 5spd. But if you're worried abotu it being loud, it's Not! i've heard much louder exhuast including a 2.5" straight pipe from my friend's car w/o resonator and cats. So this sport exhuast options is a nice options to add if you're in a bit of a mood for some 'racy' type feel.

its not a magnaflow. its a mazdaspeed, because while i was in japan i went to the dealer there and the had the exact same one in there parts. i saw it personally. its called the mazdaspeed sport sound muffler.

it might a canadian thing.

LOL...that's the funniest thing i've read in a while...

anyways...yeah the mazdaspeed exhaust is a good unit to get...the sound is deep throughout the powerband...it is definitely louder but not obnoxiously loud like some *cough* civics and eclipses...

one of the best things i like about it though is that it looks so clean...it fits perfectly into the cutout in the bumper and doesn't stick out

but if you intend on doing a lot of long driving i'm not sure i would recommend it...it definitely gets really loud above 4k...meaning if you travel long distances driving above 70mph...it will get annoying

but i still love it

oh yeah, hasn't this always been an option(dealer accessory)...i bought my p5 pretty quick after they came out and it was out then too

the best way to go for a deep kinda mellow tone is the Flowmaster delta 60 series. It sounds good and you can pick you tip to make it a more personal option. They don't sound ricey at all. It sounds good. I personally hate those people that there cars go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. All high piched and crap.

I really like the Mazdaspeed exhaust that I have. I has good low tone and you get a some performance out of it. It is better than the stock at the least.
