Damn, you need to hold the wheel tighter :).. Was it torque-steer or did the car slide out through a turn or something?

Mid 15s? Maybe with a retarded Ray Charles driving :). And- 13's fast :)??? lol...
Joe

Damn Joey Joo Ja is back with a vengeance.

I <3 my MSP too.

I dont seem to have much hesitation.. more boost fixed that, my cd player is working.. the clunk is minor, and if i get the car flashed, and they replace the bushings, i will be happy. :)

My only complaint is the seat... why the hell did they make the seat with the raised surface, and was it not wear tested?!
I might try to get a pair of RX7 FD seats... :D

driving my MSP is more fun than taunting people on the Intenet.

I LOVE MY MSP!

torque steer is nothing in this car if you compare it to V6 cars without LSD like the Altima. Mazda did a damn good job engineering the drive train and suspension on this car.

I currently own a 2000 Honda Civic, 2000 Honda Prelude and a 2003.5 MSP, and I'm going to have to say that there is definately no more torque steer in the msp than in my other two vehicles. Perhaps your vehicles are unique to mine, or vice versa. Try holding the wheel with two hands and you'll avoid your problems with near accidents. Your problem is that the power on the MSP spools much sooner than on the VTEC engines, so you're feeling the torque level much sooner. You probably face this problem when turning from a stand still. Once you're cornering at speed, you should feel a significant improvement in handling with the msp. It out handles my Prelude in stock form, hands down. And don't try telling me that your Civic is a better handler than a Prelude, because I drive them both and I know. My Prelude doesn't hit its peek torque level until around 5200 RPM, while the MSP hits it at around 3500 RPM. As long as you become familiar with this, you should be able to use the torque steer as an advantage rather than an accident waiting to happen.

apppreciate the positive thread (certainly better than the typical BS thread you usually post... no offense) but it seems like you contradicted yourself... in the beginning you're talking about how this Tech was blown away by how fast your car was. (which is obviously a good thing) Then you mention "to all you people out there who are only interested in 1/4 times..." meaning, straight away speed isn't that important. Well, my friend, which is it???? I'm in the "handling is better" dept but these two thoughts, IMO, contradict eachother just a tad.

Took mine to a dealer, (took three tries to get one who'd listen), and complained about the torque steer. They said they had a bulletin from Mazda about resetting the toe, and after that, it had much less torque steer. Also, try setting the tire pressure to 32 lbs.

Just an idea: the guy may have been blown away, given what the car is. I know that I was very surprised after test driving a MSP for the first time. Insanely fast? No, I've owned and driven MUCH faster, but the car felt damn good for a 170 hp turbocharged four banger.

Just my opinion... if you don't like it: (moon)

I too would like to express my feelings of affection for the Mazda Speed Protege.

I love my (msporange !!! (yippy) (yippy) (wiggle) (wiggle)
