Last week, I had my MAZDASPEED in my local alignment shop getting the rotation/balance and Mobil 1 changed. Owen Alignment - great folks! Folksy folks, as it were. (lol)

Anyway; after finishing up, the tech takes it out onto Highway 64 to check things out, and comes back shaking his head. He was blown away! He could not believe how quick my MAZDASPEED was, and the way it handled. He was very impressed. Keep it mind; the only real modification I have is the Joe P MBC & FPK, and I am running a little over 9.5 psi. Sure; I have the K&N cone filter - but nothing else. This tech was in his mid-late 20s, I would say. He said, if I ever wanted to sell it, to let him know. Ha!

So; for all of you MAZDASPEED owners that really do love your cars - forget about the naysayers. Our cars do rock! (rockon) Not that I need any convincing; I have always thought so. I have about 13,000 miles on mine now.

It's easy to be influenced when you hang around a place, forum, etc,,, where you hear more negatives than positives.

And; I will say this again, too. If your biggest concern in life is 1/4 mile drag racing - then you bought the wrong car anyway.

'Just wanted to let you all know!

Yeah!

I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED!!! (k) (k) (k)

OH God!! Don't let this friendly thread go in the crapper by bringing that up. (nobody)

Or, maybe he has taste and appreciates the entire car. The MSP works as one machine better than most.

see- i wonder if the MSP would have beat the 'dodge car' if sport compact car turned up the boost to just under 10psi. makes ya wonder!!

In the 1/4? No.

i love my msp..... but its really nothing special. It handles great but has the worst torque steer i've driven, also its far from fast. Its a nice looking, reilable ride. Also you dont see them often since its limited production.

go drive a fwd dsm with some mods done (or i assume the srt does the same), then you'll feel some bad torque steer. I hardly notice it comparatively

It's amazing how much you really don't appreciate your car, until you have to drive a rental while your car is getting worked on.

I dropped mine off @ my dealership yesterday to get some work done and flashed. They gave me a 2002 baby blue Sentra auto. And let me tell you.....that thing is slow as HELL!!! And handles like crap as well. I've driven alot of cars in my life, and this one is neck and neck w/ a Neon at the bottom of the barrel.

I just can't wait to get my speed back today!! Nothing can beat its handling for the price!!!

Define what you mean fast?

Ang AGR I also love my speed. Rock on bud!!!! (thumb)

Ah one of the many "Turd Minions" piss off assboy this thread is all about MSP affection.

Yes my MSP post-flash at 12 PSI has made a great car even better.

almost got in to an accedent because the of torquesteer. Threw me in to another lane. The car pulls very badly. Owned a turbo civic that had 229 hp to the wheels and didn't pull that badly.
MSP does the 1/4 in mid 15secs, slow in my opinion. 14 is quick, 13 is fast. 15

MSP is a great car but don't make it sound like its a damn ferrari.

I didn't buy the car for its speed anyways, its handling and overall build quality.

not trying to be a dick, but that civic probably had about the same torque numbers (peak) as our car, but didn't hit them til much later, which is why you probably never felt the torque steer as much. if you drive an srt or a fwd dsm, both fairly torquey cars, the feeling would be different. you have to literally fight to keep it going straight when accelerating hard, until you get higher up in the revs.

nono, i meant overall.

they said if the msp had just a touch more power it would have won. maybe 9.5psi would given it enough to ruin a srt in the twisties.

I think half the people that drive this car and complain about torque steer need to learn what torque steer REALLY is. I mean my car is a joke with torque steer. If you think our car is bad, you haven't driven very many FW cars imho. I've driven tons worse, with more and less power.

Agreed! (thumb) (sorry for the confusion)

true this is has about same amount of torque but it doen't really matter because the turbo civic was easier to drive and much much faster then SRT4.
driven a 1.8t gti with a autothority chip. Torque steer was almost non existant because of the equal drive shafts.
