About Osram Silverstar H7

Can you tell which one is the sylvania silver star..

I had one in my car for a few days to see if there was a noticable difference, I always found our headlights to be bright from factory..

Osram and Sylvania are the same company (actually Osram wns Sylvania) but they produce different products for different markets.

Here is the comparison that I did:

headlight2s.jpg

I ended up going with the silverstars. The leitechs had a nice white colour but the light output was a lot less. The difference between stock and the siverstars in terms of light output was incredible. The light is nice and clean too.

Hope this helps!

I will be doing the same test with some eurolights when I get my hands on them!

Wait a sec, although I can see that the Silverstars have more light output,I can also see that the amber is still there??Isn't it supposed to be white??

What throws it a bit is that the litechs are very white/blue.

I used a quick exposure speed so the colouring isn't as true as it is in person. The Silverstars are not drastically whiter than stock, but the light output is. You can also see that the stock is really yellow in comparison.

BTW, those silverstars are the Sylvania variety :D

osram silverstars?

I really don't want to be the guinea pig for this since I don't have any other car in the driveway that can take the bulbs... but oh well. at noon today when I pick up my Protege5, I'll put the Sylvania Silverstars in, and when the Osrams come in the mail I'll put one in and take pictures so that we all have an answer.

Okay..here are my Osram H7's. I got these from www.powerbulbs.com
No high beams...and don't pay attention to the fog lights ;)

Edit: These are my 2nd set after 26000+ km. I'm gonna stick w/ these for 67CDN including tax and shipping.

Would it hurt my wires any if i switched my bulb to some H4 apc bulbs we have here at work that are 100 watts. It says it recamends a higher guage wire harness??

I wouldn't do it without upgraded wiring, but brighter headlights are just going to make other users of the road go blind unless you aim your low beams down more... is it the color you are looking for or the light output?

I've seen Canadian Tire advertise the Sylvania ones. I haven't actually gone up to take a look. 29 bucks Canadian i think.

Are these the same as the ones your ordering online?

I want a light that's NOT yellow. The stock light is far too yella for me. I had piaa's for a while and I loved them. Xtreme White. one blew after a year so I took both out. I'm on stockers now, and I hate the yellow color. i don't want a really blue light, but the piaa's Xtreme Whites did have a slight blue'ish hue up close that I liked.

Yeah the sylvania ones will tend to give you that color, the osrams have no blue coating on the bulb so it's just a bright white.

So what kinda bulb would be best to get i also seen the h3 bulb which is for the fogs right in 100 watts. Its not apc just the napa brand.

Both me and a friend have the silverstars in our P5's and we swear by them. I've used the cheap blubs that have a bule tint to them and I have to say that these bulbs project light way farther.

So silver stars are fine for the stock wiring harness whats the watts on them? Also did any one upgrade there fogs i wanna do that also. Kinda weary tho cause the lights dim as it is at idle.

The wattage is same as stock with all the sylvania's since sylvania is a reputable (read not APC) company. So no worries about burning wires.

The osram silverstars seem brighter, I still don't understand how they could be with the same wattage (better materials and craftmanship perhaps). I know they make H3 Osram Silverstar, but I don't have them nor have I seen in person or in pictures anyone who does.

K sorry this might be a dumb question but the h7 is for p5's only right and what does the osram mean is that a diff type of silver star. Sorry just never checked out all these bulbs.

Yes Osram is the european branch of Sylvania. The Osram's don't have the blue coating, so don't look to them for any hint of blue in the light. They also aren't DOT approved bulbs. The sylvania silverstars are the DOT compliant version and use an iridescent blue/purple coating on the bulb to achieve the "bright white". Since you have a sedan you have H4 bulbs, and I know that the Sylvania Cool Blue look really nice for H4 (my sister has them on her eclipse gt).
