About Osram Silverstar H7

Before people think this is another redudant post on headlight bulbs please note I have started this thread after extensive searching on the forum.

I am intending to order a set of Osram Silverstars H7 off powerbulbs.com. For the H4 bulb I do know there is a significant improvement of light output, being that the H4 bulb is of an older design and that the design changes and filaments, and filling changes to the H4 Silverstar improve it substantially from the stock H4.

However, I am doubting that the Silverstar H7 will yield the same improvements. This is because the H7 being a new design bulb is already near optimized. It states on suvlights.com website that the H7 line by Osram is the equivalent of +30 Super line of the Osram. Hence, there is no Osram Super H7 being that the H7 is Super by nature. The stock P5 low beam uses an Osram H7 Long Life bulb.

So I was wondering that if upgrading to the Silverstar will yield any significant benefits over the stock bulb, or will the improvement be as substantial as other bulb types.

Any comment and pics and best of all personal testimonials will be greatly appreciated.

I tryed the Sylvania silverstars, there was a visible difference in colour of the lights (whiter) but as to brightness, it wasn't worth the $30 Can. a bulb up here..

The Osrams from what I have heard and read, are by far brighter, it's probably due to a tighter whind on the lighting element.

The bulbs from powerbulbs are relatively inexpensive..

Well, I had Silverstar H1s in my Altima for 6 months... I know, different car, different bulb but - while I was very happy with how whiter the light was, they burned out in those 6 months. Their site says that they will last "up to a year".

I dunno. I bought some Philips Premiums of http://www.autolamps-online.com and ma hoping to have better luck with those. Note - you buy 2 and get 3. Seeing that Silverstars ran me about $40, and Philips was $19 for 3 with free shipping, I don't think I'll care if they burn in 6 months :)

Per what people say - they are a good bulb too.

The Osram's are way brighter than the domestic Sylvania bulbs. I notice a big difference in color and light output over my p5 stock H7 bulbs.

i got vision professional bulbs, they have a slight blue tint to them but are WAY brighter than my stock bulbs, plus they are cheaper LOL the last pair i had lasted a year and 3/4, not bad for an $18CAD /pr

i have replaced the stock with the sylvania silver stars too... actually one side was a silver star and the other was stock at first.... um... i would say that there is more light on the road, just a little bit more.... but it may not be noticeable by most ppl. i think the silverstars are rated at around 1200~ lux (and this is the amount of light output) so maybe if you can find the stock H7 output then you will know if it will be brighter.

but the light produced is noticablly more white than the stock one and maybe beacuse it is whiter it reflects off the road surface whiter making ppl think that it is brighter than stock...

cause i don't think it actually shines further than the stock ones.

keep us updated if you end up buying the osram ones...

so yeah.. about those Osrams.. just how white looking are they? I ordered some from khymotorsports.com but I also have Sylvania H7 silverstars on my desk. I hadn't read up much on the Osrams before I purchased, and now I fear that they are gonna look really yellow. If I have to, I'll gladly return them and just get them for high beam or fog bulbs.

with my truck (not a nice crystal clear lens like the protege) i had cool blue and upgraded to silverstar when a cool blue burned out, and with 1 silverstar one cool blue there was NO way to tell at all. On my sister's eclipse GT the cool blues look nice, I doubt the silverstars will look much different. Then again, I don't have my protege yet (less than 2 days!) so I don't know how it is on them.

okay does any one have pics of there head lights?? with Sylvania Cool Blues, or any after marke bulbs ?????
Sorry, don't have pics but with the Cool Blues, the brightness is pretty much the same except the amber portion of the light is taken out thus making the light whiter.

I guess I'll just wait and get brighter bulbs from a well known brand such as PIAA,I don't know.

I thought Osram and Sylvania were the same company???
they are.. but in the U.S. they sell Sylvania SilverStars that just have a blue iridescent coating, whereas the Osram Silverstars do not have this coating, they are just really bright. I have Sylvania's sitting on my desk waiting for thursday when I go pick up my car from cape cod, and i have osrams in transit to my house. The reason for this is that I've read that the osrams aren't nice and white looking, they are just brighter. someone's gotta post some pics though, I wanna keep the osrams so that I don't have to pay the 20% restocking fee to return them. Currently I plan on slapping in the sylvanias, returning the osrams, and buying osrams for the high beams or something.

did u get the osrams yet?

how was service and delivery from khymotorsports?
I haven't gotten them yet, Ordered them last saturday. They sent me an e-mail saying that my order was "pending shipment" but I have no tracking number or anything. I'm gonna return them when I get them unless someone can tell me that they are whiter than the USDM ones. I'll get the osrams for my high beams if they're brighter, but low beams gotta be aesthetically pleasing.

true... there is no way to tell at all the difference between the cool blue and the silver stars... i have one cool blue and one silverstar in my car right now too and i kinda think that the cool blue one is a little brighter.
they both look exactly the same in colour.

cool blues aren't as expensive either.
