A really dumb snafu...

Ok, so...I know I haven't posted lately but Its been hell with some really long workweeks lately. Anywho...

Yesterday, I messed up and curbchecked the hell out of my front passenger wheel. Its a helluva scrape and doesn't look pretty.

The wheels are chrome and I don't really mind if the one was just scratched and its just the chrome. But my concern is for the integrity of the wheel and whether or not its cracked.(eek2) The car drove just fine in the hours following the snafu but haven't checked tire pressure yet.

I'm taking it into my guy later today.

Other than that, thoughts?

Thanks.

How bad is it? Rim replacement? Curb rash is rarely fixable. Rim bends are to some degree but can be dangerous if aggressive driving is your thing. Sounds like you are just better off buying a new one. pics?

Photos to come soon.

So would you say curbchecking is "hit or miss" as far as replacement goes? (no pun intended)

Update!

Took her in and the wheel is just fine.

But the dealer found a nail in the same tire $15 fixed.

And he also found the rubber boot over the ball joint is torn a bit but isn't threatening to the joint itself. Rather, it will slowly let dirt and grime in over time and should be replaced. I was pissed to hear this and wondered what could have caused it; the dealer doubts it was the curbchecking incident, he suggests it was like a rabid squirrel or something...anywho, its gonna be fixed under warranty for some crazy reason ;)

All in all, good day for sure.

Photos of the ugly wheel soon to come.

the boots are normal wear and tear. the ones on my old car started to dry up and then cracked. then i got them replaced and the shop misplaced them and the cv joint started to pinch them haha.

what kinda car is it btw? a 6 or a speed6?

speed...And by the way! The dealer still hasnt gotten back to me about that ball joint. Wonder if its a hard to find part or something...
