I bought a new '08 MS3 two days ago and already I'm looking to what it will take to properly maintain it. I don't plan any modifications as the MS3 is quicker than my 330ci.
My first question is - is part number ZZCA-23-802 the correct # for the oil filter insert? I just bought two of them today and I'd like to make sure they are the correct ones - ahem, dealer parts people do make mistakes. Don't want to get into that thing where the car is apart and we have the wrong filter.
I plan on using BMW synthetic 5w30 oil at least for the first couple of changes mostly because it seems to be holding up pretty well in BMW's 335 series twin turbo engine, and that is with 15k mile oil changes(!). It should be OK for the MS3 turbo engine on 3,000 mile oil changes, no?
The owners manual states that the transaxle uses GL4 90 wt oil in it. I plan at 10k miles to change it using Redline MT90 as Redline's MTL has done really well in my 330ci. Does this sound OK?
