Hey all, well i've been debating this DIY FMIC on my 03.5 Mazdaspeed protege and i have the money to buy it right now, but what do u guys think, my motor has 45K on it but i jus was a little skeptic on the whole maf location and what to do with the stock BPV, please input ur thoughts on this guys and gals......and nothing retarded please :) i do alot of errrands during the day and heat soak sucks like a b.......Thanks all

You won't regret it, I love mine. Don't be skeptical of anything, we wouldn't suggest it if it didn't work for us.

Thanks guys, that gave me a bit more confidence, as for the factory bpv, do i trash it and use that vacuum source for my blow off valve? i was planning on VTA........and should i keep my maf on the intake side or on the cold pipe?(if on the cold pipe, where) Thanks guys :)

If you VTA you have to put the MAF on the cold pipe after the BOV. Ideally you want the MAF at least 6" before the TB and at least 10" or so between the MAF and BOV but people have put them closer without issue. It's mostly to reduce air turbulence for the MAF. Yes you can use the factory vacuum source for a BOV but I recommend using new lines and a Vacuum block.

Thanks hornsfan, what type of vacuum hoses and a block would u recommend?package deal for both perhaps?

I got my vacuum block used on this forum, you can get them on ebay for pretty cheap, they go on the brake booster line on the passenger side of the line because there is a check valve inside the line. I bought a few feet of vacuum hose from street unit or corksport or somewhere, I believe its 3mm line but i'm not positive.

cool guys, so the brake booster hose goes threw one way and out the other end of the block, but after the check valve correct? so my blowoff valve is okay to run for now off the vac source that is supplied to the old factory bpv?

yep and yep, if you get a vacuum block you want to run the WGA and BOV lines to it and cap the nipple on the intake manifold.

in my experience, the stock vacuum line for the bpv on a bov wont be very responsive. i would def run it off the brake booster.
