First of all, I want to thank everyone on the forums for their help, assitance and for keeping a "family" feel to the site. Before I even purchased my MSP, I read thread after thread about the car. Not many people had negative things to say and pretty much everyone helped each other out. The knowledge of individuals on this forum is just amazing. Everyone has their own piece of knowledge and freely contribues it to make this community better. I thank you all...
Let me say that I have never been so in love with a car. I have never cared about cars before. I've never washed a car by hand every week. I've never even waxed a car unless it was sprayed on by some machine moving around the car, which even then most of it was carried away by the wind.. Until now.
Despite my list of minor problems, of which I have yet to have the dealership check in to, I'm totally blown away by how this car drives, feels, and looks. There's not a single time when I'm out driving that I don't get looks or get asked questions about the car. It's handling is like no other car I've ever been in and the power, while not the quickest or most awe-inducing out there, is quite sufficient, for lack of a better word. I've still very happy with this car, and was even glad to make my first car payment. I don't know how many people with other cars are glad to make car payments..
Anyway, moving on to stuff more on topic..
When I bought the car, I immediately switched out the stock airbox with the K&N cone. The sound of the turbo "whistle" greatly increased loudness along with the bypass valve's "pssffftt". However, I noticed that when the car was idling, the fans would kick on and off very often and drop the car's idle down to where it would almost stall. I was also getting very horrible gas milage.
So, today I finally put the stock airbox back on. The bypass valve noise is completely gone and all that you can hear really is the whistle as the car is acceleratiing. While I do miss the bypass valve noise, my gas milage has considerably improved, as I've already noticed. I drove about one to two hundred miles today and I've ony used up between a quarter and half of a tank of gas, where as before I'd pretty much be empty.
I guess the point of telling you this is that if you do have the cone filter on your car and you're getting decreased gas milage, take it off and wait for Injen to finalize everything. The improved sound it added was not worth the decreased gas milage, in my opinion.
Another thing is that the carbon fiber dash trim is squeaking very badly. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what did you do to fix it? I'm about ready to rip the radio out and see what the hell is vibrating, as it's getting worse and worse every day.
Anyway, I do have more, but I need to get to sleep. Thank you all again. Goodnight.
