:waves little patriotic flag around:
I'm glad we went in there (read, we sent soldiers in there - I'm not in an armed forces), for many reasons, but even if I did disagree with going in, I'd STILL GIVE RESPECT to the soldiers who went in, because no one forced them to join up knowing that someday they might fight to defend out country, or possibly fight to defend someone else's, thousands of miles from home and family and friends.
Now, I think everyone should chill out and not go crazy here, but I must say that rowan's comments are slightly humorous, but his avatar isn't. It's one thing to joke about not finding anything, but joking about people getting killed isn't funny. And besides, while WMD may be the "excuse" to go in, regardless if we find any (and I'm convinced Iraq was well on its way to having them, if it didn't already have them), going in and kicking saddam's ass was a good thing for the Iraqi people (short and long term, but not mid term - mid term we have retailiatory terrorism and confusion and culture shock. short term was the relief, and in the long term will be if not peace, at least relative freedom)
Anyways, I'll STFU now. Hell, I wouldn't have seen this thread if someone else hadn't sent it to me, I basicly never read these forums... besides, if you hven't been there, you can't have an informed opinion... and an uninformed opinion is less than meaningless. (so there goes my post! DOH!)
