A few pics from Operation Iraqi Freedom

:waves little patriotic flag around:

I'm glad we went in there (read, we sent soldiers in there - I'm not in an armed forces), for many reasons, but even if I did disagree with going in, I'd STILL GIVE RESPECT to the soldiers who went in, because no one forced them to join up knowing that someday they might fight to defend out country, or possibly fight to defend someone else's, thousands of miles from home and family and friends.

Now, I think everyone should chill out and not go crazy here, but I must say that rowan's comments are slightly humorous, but his avatar isn't. It's one thing to joke about not finding anything, but joking about people getting killed isn't funny. And besides, while WMD may be the "excuse" to go in, regardless if we find any (and I'm convinced Iraq was well on its way to having them, if it didn't already have them), going in and kicking saddam's ass was a good thing for the Iraqi people (short and long term, but not mid term - mid term we have retailiatory terrorism and confusion and culture shock. short term was the relief, and in the long term will be if not peace, at least relative freedom)

Anyways, I'll STFU now. Hell, I wouldn't have seen this thread if someone else hadn't sent it to me, I basicly never read these forums... besides, if you hven't been there, you can't have an informed opinion... and an uninformed opinion is less than meaningless. (so there goes my post! DOH!)

rock and roll..im jealous man..you got to go and kick ass..i get to sit on the sidelines..but you did your duty and lived to tell the tale..you should of kept one of those gold dragonov's..so nice..

Hey RazorP5,

Just wanted to let you know that not all of us Canadians feel the same as rowan. I for one am thankfull for what the Americans did in Iraq. I wish our government would have been more assertive (on the same token - taken more seriuosly diplomatically).

When it comes to the weapons of mass destruction, I agree that Iraq did have them, and got ride of them as soon as they felt the serious heat. Will the US find any? Chances are slim to none. Thats the last thing the former iraqi gov. and other shady gov's want, for it to be proven that the US and allies where right in doing what they did.

Thanks

KB

p.s. Nice pics, keep on posting!

ummmmm.....those pics rule!!!!! MORE MORE MORE!!!! I admire your bravery......if you ever get into the Raleigh/NC area gimme a buzz......huge pizzas and good imported beers on me!!!!!!!!!!

First thing I wanna say is that I have the utmost respect for all of Americas armed forces. You guys do things that most people couldn't even contemplate.

But unwrittenlaw, what the hell is this "anti-american" bulls***. Of course I've heard of it before, being thrown around on Fox news and MSNBC and the rest, but it's bulls***. Rowan is an ass for throwing a tragic accident (DEF: An unexpected and unavoidable event, especially one resulting in damage or harm) around for leverage in an argument or whatever he was trying to do, but anti-american? Osama Bin Laden is anti american. Saddam is anti-american. The fact that Rowan can say that and not be shot makes him american (well, canadian, but you know what I mean). That's what makes all of us american and that's what the difference is between us and Iraq. If he had that avatar up in Iraq (the former Iraq) he would have beeen dead twenty minutes later.

Our government gives us the right to say whatever the **** we want to damn near who ever the **** we want whenever the **** we want. In the 1950's there was a senator named Joseph Mccarthy who, along with his colleagues, accused dozens of people of being communists and if they were found to be communists, they were "black listed." Not officially, of course. The comitee simply said "If you don't want to be around communists, dont do business with (Insert name here)" THAT was anti-american.

Mccarthy tried to break down the eccense of America. If people want to be communists, that is their legal right under the protection of the constitution of the United States of America. As is being Atheist, Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, black, chinese, English, Cherokee; what the **** ever you want. Here in america, you can speak out against the government and their actions and live. Granted, some people might not be very happy with you, but you can do it. And that is what America is. And to call someone anti-american for speaking his beliefs, whether you believe in the same things or not, is the core of anti-americanism.

Awesome Bro!!!

Great job making it back safe and kicking ass. Post all the pics you got, they are awesome. Coming from an ex-soilder......HOOOOAH! Ever find yourself in western NC area you got a place to crash and food in your belly bro.

To anyone who wants to put down the operation and political motives you can but you can't say s*** about RazorP5. His ass was on the line living in a s***-hole facing death on a daily basis. Great job Razor. Unfortunately not everyone was able make it back.

Yes, we lost three fine soldiers from my unit...i will post some more pics later (once i get back from the track on post), but i would like to mention:

Spc. Donald S. Oaks Jr., 20, was assigned to C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment (Multiple Launch Rocket System), Fort Sill, Okla. Oaks was from Erie, Pa.

Sgt. 1st Class Randall S. Rehn, 36, was assigned to C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment (Multiple Launch Rocket System), Fort Sill, Okla. Rehn was from Longmont, Colo.

Sgt. Todd J. Robbins, 33, was assigned to C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment (Multiple Launch Rocket System), Fort Sill, Okla. Robbins was from Pentwater, Mich.

lemme know after the next round of comments if you want some more pics, believe me i have plenty more...any questions you have about iraq/kuwait i could prolly try to answer, or questions about our operation or anything as well...

I have five trips to Kuwait since 1995 when we reoccupied Al Jaber. Have you been to Jaber or just Doha. It looks like Iraq looks just like Kuwait. Show some recent shots of Kuwait it has been since Sept. 11 since I have been there.

omg .. so much anger. Too bad only one person got the joke, it wasn't meant as any kind of attack.

With all you soldiers running around with cameras I wonder why they needed embedded journalists? You should hook up with the AP and make some cash on the side. That's not really sarcastic as they are some good photos. I'm kind of surprised you were allowed to take them and post them on a public forum.
